Sneakiest Pete for under $200?

Stop looking at the not-so-sneaky petes, then.
True SP's is what was requested in the original thread. Before it got hijacked.

If you're concerned about "intimidating people," then I doubt any suggestion is going to help.
It's about being a pool snob towards people who are poorer than you.

Players usually can tell if a player is a player, Pete or no Pete.
Again, it is not about deception but perception.

Not sure why anyone would want a playing cue, break cue, and jump cue, plus an extension.
I mean, how shi##y are the players? I'm serious.

Jason

Good point, Jason.

Exactly why I want a quality, true SP under $200.

I didnt ask for sneaky petes that arent sneaky. Its not helpful advice. Im not looking to hustle other players out of money just the casual guy around the bar that is willing to play for money but cant tell im an actual player. Not hard to understand.

People, please stay on subject.

Sneakiest Pete for under $200.

Original, First Post
Need a sneaky but cant seem to find any I like.
Most of them arent sneaky at all and have logos.
Suggestions please.

Then mchnhed added a detailed list of cue characteristics.

True "House Cue" Sneaky Pete

1. No joint collars of any kind. Must be wood to wood. No wood tone or wood color phenolic rings either.

2. The wood to wood should be machined/turned well, to be as seamless as possible.

3. Shaft wood matching the butt as close as possible is another big plus.

4. No butt caps. House cues do not have butt caps. They are wood all the way to the bumper. A sneaky is trying to mimic a house cue. This is always forgotten.

5. No exotic woods. It can be plain as a house cue, but bocote or cocobolo will ruin the effect.

6. True house cues style points. That means no veneers, no extra-long points, only 4 points - not 5 or 6. Using the house cue type splice.

7. No inlays of any kind anywhere.

8. No long ferrules, or unusually short ferrules (like OB classic or i2). House cues don't have Meucci length ferrules.

9. No wraps of any kind.

10. No fancy or unusual bumpers. There's some leeway here, could use a Schon style bumper and be fine. Maybe a Meucci style one too which is used on some Player's cues. However, the big and large ones house cues typically have is best to maximize the effect.

11. Extreme length pro-tapers, or very small diameter shafts with very long tapers are visibly different and obvious are not recommended. Can still go with a long pro taper, just avoid the pencil shaft profiles.

12. Avoid super high luster finishes (like that of high end custom cues). They are not a good thing, in fact ...too clean of a cue is a give away also. If you are like myself, and keep a cue immaculate and clean, it will always look different and odd. Some dings and dents in the butt, a more matte finish, and some blue on the shaft is a good thing. High quality finishes really stand out, which is why cuemakers put a lot of effort into them. That's not what you want.

13. A nice touch, is the addition of a stamping on the butt's forearm indicating the cue's weight just like house cues have.

However, the days of house cue sneaky petes being sneaky are pretty much over. It still does fool some people.

It's not that hard to stick to the requested subject.

MCHNHED thank you very much. My question was answered on the first page of this thread by you. I read everyone elses comments and opinions for further options and thanks everyone for your input. Sad to see some people have to bring in negativity to a thread as if their opinion is right or to question my orginal thread starting question. No wonder pool is dieing.

I know my eyesight ain't what it used to be ... but seems to me you are contradicting yourself here. YES - it IS hard to understand ... because what you describe is the pure definition of "hustling other players out of money".

At least try to be a bit honest - if not with us - at least with yourself.

Not lieing to myself I guess it comes down to what you call a "player". Im trying to hustle people who dont know me who are casually hanging at the bar to watch sports or just have a few drinks. I know the pool community very well in this Province and they know me. These are the people I consider pool players.

Do you consider the 22 year olds that go out and hit balls for a few hours every now and then on the weekend a player? They maybe at that moment but it wasn't what I was referring to at all. Thought it was obvious.

Ched whats your purpose of your comment? Just to be a dick head? Did you really not understand the difference? How about some input on a sneaky pete or are you to busy being miserable?

the $30 eliminators play fine, just make sure they ship a straight one.

at $30, you won't be out a ton of money if an upset "casual guy" deems it necessary to baptize a certain would-be pool hustler with it.

If you go back and read what you wrote again I think you will see the confusion. He read "players" to mean "people", whereas you apparently intended "players" in this case to be read as "people who play the game of pool well as opposed to just amateurs".

I read "players" to mean "people" initially as well.

I see the confusion thank you. Da, grammer is not good?! I wont edit to stay humble.

That's good advice?
Is that what you would really do with all the choices listed?

(I know it was a setup line for a joke about hustling.)

PLONK.

People helped you. Good luck. Your best friend on this thread says it's about being mindful about perception around poorer folk. You say you're going to hustle bangers.

You're my hero, and you don't have a good grasp on how forums work.

I believe Post #25 gave you exactly what you were asking for. And for a LOT less. Any reason why you have not pulled the trigger. Heck, he's giving you 2 plus throwing in the shipping for the $200. So, if some poor college student konks you on the head with one, you still got one left ;)

Two Used Elimantors for $75 including shipping?

I can get a new one for $40 shipped free on fleabay.

For two used Eliminators maybe $50 shipped.

I just bought a higher quality Players SP for $50 shipped.

Yes, the Players SP has a butt cap that I will knock off with a large hammer.

"Sneakiest Pete Under $200" was the subject posted.

Both of those guys stayed within the subject, the one guy STARTED the thread.

99% of today's Sneaky Petes are Pretty Boys.
Nice?
Yes, but not "True" Sneaky Petes.

Eliminator SP over a Players SP?

BTW neither brand meets the design requirements of no buttcap.

I bought a 4 pack of eliminator true sp's on ebay about 15 years ago for about $80 shipped.

I can't speak to players sp's or imagine any edge they might have other than the shafts having possibly been bleached, which is a minus.

You failed to follow the OP at all, and youre still trying? What's wrong with you? You even told him in post 8 that the cue he wanted to get wasn't what he wanted.

He clearly wants to hustle bangers. You were wrong when you tried to give the "it's about perception not deception," or the "We don't want to ruffle the poor folk's feathers." It absolutely is about deception, as the OP admitted. He wants to take money off of unsuspecting casual players.

Are you willing to admit it? Doubtful.

And he got all the help he needed. Ingrates.
