Players touching the table with the tip of cue

This should be a foul ball in hand. You see players do this sometimes when mapping out their shape.

Foul!

So to summarize.

No touching the table with your tip.
No measuring with your stick like the mirror system or lining up a kick or rail shot...you know how they pivot with the stick from the pocket etc.
Remove the diamonds from the table.
Take the rest (rake) out of the game.

Also take out jump or break cues...should have to jump/break with playing cue.

Curios, what about spoting a shape line or rail targets bothers you? I didn't see the player marking the table with tip chalk. Why call this a foul?

The same reason using the diamonds bothers me...they should be removed. Marking the rails or the table should be a foul.

Touching and marking are two different things. Touching(not marking) as part of visualizing a shot is not a foul. Now, touching that leaves a mark that aids a shot is definitely a foul. I would put tip-marking and chalk-placing in the same boat as far as a foul goes.

I'm also on the fence about measuring the mirror system with your cue...I have seen Shane and Mika do that.

Just make it easy and say no touching the table with your tip. I see people do it all the time.

I smell a troll

NO no no you don't. These are legit things I think need to be taken out of pool.

  • The tip thing is marking the table.
  • You should not be able to use your cue as a measuring device.
  • Chinese 8 ball and snooker don't have diamonds.
  • Lots of people think jump cues should go.
  • The rest/rake is used to get you out of a bad positional play...get rid of it.

You must be a lot fun to play with. Hell, who needs chalk? Or a level table? Do you REALLY need a tip on your cue? Lets keep using those 40yr. old out-of-round Centennials also. Just kidding, mostly. Why no rake/rest? Gotta hear your rationale on this.

If you want. Basically you get one cue to play with during the game. No rest/bridge. No jump cue. No break cue.

All those advantages, touching the tip to table, diamonds, jump cues, time outs, using the stick to measure the mirror, and the bridge...yet you aren't out there beating pro's taking down tourneys with all those advantages.

I don't use any of these things I have listed...if they need to use them then what does that say about their game?
