Players touching the table with the tip of cue

I was invited to a league one night to fill in for someone. I took a quick look around and came to the conclusion that league pool is the equivalent of beer league soccer. A bunch of bad players with expensive equipment getting angry over missing shots week after week. I have won tournaments with pros in it, but never entered a pro tournament.

haven't we all.

I still see no direct answer to my question... if handicaps were- let's say A to D with A being the best... what would you consider yourself?

If a chalk mark is left on a table, then THE CUE didn't touch the cloth, THE CHALK did.

End of thread.

Jeff, uh oh...ruskies!, Livingston

I don't agree with the handicapping system. All tournaments should abandon them. If you can't win without handicapping then practice more. Hey maybe another topic to have?

Still no answer sir. Looking for an answer to my question and as stated above... whether you agree with handicapping or not is irrelevant to the discussion/question.

Isn't "to spot or give balls" when betting a "handicap"?
Use that system.

You've won tournaments w pros in them but you don't have a fargo rating?

In another thread you talk about youtube runouts that your practicing. But you have no table set up? So your doing these runout drills on the bar table next to where you live?

The burden does lie on the person calling the foul, but you say it isn't?

If I enter a tournament where they have a handicap I just play at the highest rating they have because I don't take spots. On the topic of handicapping...the worst kind of handicap is by giving balls...it should always be a race to 3/7 sort of thing.

I'm talking about a "handicapping system" that would use your level of skill (Fargo) to determine what balls to spot.

Why do you need to spot balls? I don't get the logic? Can someone join a spelling B and get easier words because they can't spell as well as the other contestants?

***Warning*** Total Noob approaching table to ask question.....
Could a "Race to...." system work for handicapping?

Could you also tell me how a "Race to...." is done?
Let's say I want to shoot a game with you.
I'm a Level 1 or "D" player.

Thanks for not ***** slapping me.

Then how could we ever shoot pool together and enjoy each other's company?
I'm a Level <1 player.

I'm still in the dark about what a "Race to...." is.

You play 9 ball where one player has a race to 10 while the other player has a race to 4.
You mean you have to sink 10 balls and I only have to sink 4?
Which 4 would I have to sink or do you remove the balls after the break?
I warned you I was a Noob.

How about when playing 8 ball?

oh lol...no. one player would have to win 10 games to win the match...the other player would only have to win 4. No spotting of balls. Another way they do it is the lower ranking player would be given a 6 game spot...so the match would start with a score of 6:0 in a race to 10.

What do you mean "I warned you..."? How does someone "remove" balls? Do balls really "sink"? Thanks for providing clarity for me, I'm new at this.
