Put Earl Strickland on Team USA in 2017 Mosconi Cup

Yes, that is right. I don't think a player should engage in drinking, pay to get screwed by a prostitute(s), and gamble all night long while they're competing in the Mosconi Cup. I think the team should stay together as one unit and work together as a team throughout the event. After it's over, then they can feel free to do whatever they want.

Earl wouldn't drink, doesn't screw whores, and won't gamble in Vegas while in competition. Probably won't do so when competition is over either. :)

We went for beers Earl's first night in Toronto, in 5 min's he was arguing with the bartender, accusing him of tryin to rip him off. Then came in some other American players, they teased Earl all night about all the whores he'd been screwing . It was hilarious, and they all talked about it like it was no big deal. Maybe the young guns are just emulating the SO CALLED legends.

I don't believe a word you write. You are an unidentified troll from Canada.

Spew your words somewhere else on another thread. You have zero credibility as far as I'm concerned.

I think Earl demands 100% from himself and when in a team setting, he expects that of others. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. I feel there have been times in the past where some of the American team members have taken the Cup too lightly and didn't give 100% and that did not sit well with Earl and he likely let his feeling be known.
I think that is why there are certain players he gets along with no matter the situation. He has respect for their work ethic and therefor their game.

I know just from my experiences with playing in team tournaments it's very hard to manage things when you feel like you are the only one who cares about the match or one member is drunk or hung over and negates all the work and effort the rest of the team has put in.

Much better than being a RAT !

You know, if what you say about Earl is true then that makes you a RAT too, so you'd
be a Rat and a Troll.
So seem to be a Team Europe fan. You're either scared of Earl or you're telling the truth.
I bet you're scared, if you weren't you'd be Earl's biggest fan.... if he's really as awful as you say he is.

There was a dozen people there......... and people still laughing about the next day....... was common knowledge. If what I said makes Earl awful. then multiply it by 10 , and that is how bad he is . I have never seen anybody as rude and ignorant as him at a tournament .

Why in the world would I be scared ? And how do you bet on it ??.....lol.

America will lose if Earl is on the team.

Not because he sucks, because obviously he doesn't. Rather, we'll lose because he simply won't be able to hold it together mentally. Sure he'll probably come out strong, make some nice shots and show some of that vintage Earl we all love. Eventually though things will start to go against him. Maybe a ball will skid, he'll miss a shot that 90's Earl would make, someone in the audience will be breathing too loudly, etc.

Whatever the reasons, at some point they'll begin to pile up, until finally Earl has one of his notorious blowups.

Not to mention the hecklers will surely be there adding to that he don't need much and I think he here's voices that aren't there , he truly needs meds

Pretty simple for me, if the event is on US soil (which it is), then Earl should play. If it was taking place in Europe, I would say maybe it would be a bad idea to add him.

Billy Thorpe MUST be on this team along with SVB & Skyler & Earl.

I might be in minority on OD but I wouldn't argue it I guess.

Based on what reason, certainly not level of play , I'll go with Billy , then Oscar and Duell or Hatch , considerations to Roberts and Kang

If Earl can make enough points this week at The Don Coats event and next week at Turning Stone i say put him on he's been playing great lately.

I think the team captain should use his wildcard pick on The Iceberg Justin Bergman i think he is clearly the 2nd best American player and with his performance last year deserves to make the team.

Rocket,Oscar or Hatch would be my next choice.

People really have no clue about pool it's amazing. I just wish some of these people that have such serious opinions would bet a lot of money on who they think would win if they were on or off the team or who would beat who. Some of these games lol I'm not even going to say who because most people don't want to listen they just think their opinion is right. Amazing the stupidity in pool.

Justin i would love to hear your opinion on who you would pick if you were the playing captain of team USA and got to pick all five guys, you have played all these guys and i think most of us would love to hear your opinion on this.

I also would love to hear who he would choose. I am going to have to rethink on an opinion I have had for quite some time after reading justins post about how much posters on here know about pool.

Its been said many times on here ( mainly by long time members ...and posters who claim to be pretty good at pool ) that lower level players dont know shit about pool and anything they say should not be taken seriously.

The way I look at it is if their opinion of lower level players posting their opinions on here then 95 % of this forum dont know shit about pool compared to a pro and anything they say should not be taken seriously.

In other words...shit flows down hill. If a banger dont know shit compared to most posters on here well then most posters on here dont know shit compared to a pro

The Fact That We Even Get To Read Input From A Pro On Here Is Great. Not Saying You Have To Agree With Everything He Says But At Least Respect Where It's Coming From..

And I have posted this before....Angelo Dundee's fight record?
...he didn't have one.....but he became a Hall of Fame trainer.

I like this line of thinking! :)

Well I'll just say this if we keep picking the team this say we will never have our best players. I want to play Mosconi Cup as bad as anyone out there I promise you that but the way the points s he duke is setup makes it almost impossible.

I would say there's around 10 players that are capable of winning against Europes best 5 so you could probably take around 2 different types of teams and still win. It is after all a race to 5. I really don't want to get into names but if someone wants to P.M. me I'll tell you who I think are the best 5 9 ball players. I would say Europe has more variety of better players. They could get 10 pretty good teams probably and we could only get 2. But our top 5 is very close in ability to their 5. They have outplayed last few years but also out broke us that's HUGE! If anyone of you a truly truly pool fans you'll know a race to 5 nine ball at that level really is not a legitimate match. Not a knock on Mosconi Cup because it's the one thing we have that's growing every year and the players get good money just to play and more if we win, and it's extremely exciting for both players & fans.

I wish they would change the way they pick the team. Like this year for instance they have a tournament that pays $2,000 for 1st, race to 5 and maybe 3 good players show up. where some players are 2,500 miles away and they didn't use the U.S. Open as points where it's a long race $40,000 for 1st and very good competition. Maybe have a Mosconi Cup tour. It wouldn't be donation or a money loser. Take 8 pool rooms in spread out areas... Maybe two in Califronia, two in Midwest, two down south, and two in East coast.... Make them $500 entry, $1,000, or maybe $2,000.... I think there is at least 10 pool room owners out there that would add money to and already good pot with a high entry, maybe you can get the streamer to get some advertising money, or some of Matchroom big sponsors to add a little bit. That's what I would really love to see.

Sorry I don't want to throw any players under the bus because there is probably more than 5 deserving players for that, not that they all play the same but all them could compete and win a race to 5. I thinks that's a realistic idea to help pro pool out for all both players, fans, and the game in general. This is just me but I didn't start playing pool when I was a kid to play in a bar table tournament and win $800. I think that's why we are far behind Europe... Most of us play 70 percent of our tournaments on bar tables, for little money, we change racks, rules every other tournament, different cue balls, etc. Sorry for he long post but I just wanted to get that all out. Hopefully something will change next year. If that happens then maybe we will see better play from U.S. players.
