Is this possible I have a new butt I want to get worked on and it would be great to convert it to the piloted joint so all my shafts can go on it without issue.

Thanks in advance,

Thanks in advance,

It just needs to be touched with a boring bar. Send a PM to discuss details.

Removing the pin would be 'down the priority list' for me.
IE, I believe the task can be performed without touching the pin.
Minimally invasive, no collateral damage from heating the pin and a lot quicker.
All the guy wants is a pilot-recess. Bore it. 1/2" wide x .220" deep.
Undersize hole-saw to rough it. Finish with tiny boring bar.
The remaining wood in the first 3 thrds should fall out.
The cue/pin will thank you for it. Probably the client will as well.
Consider it an option.

Thanks guys, I will speak with Triple Cross Cues about having this done for me. My goal is to use the same pin on both my playing cues so I can swap shafts if need be.

If you remove the screw then go in and create the pilot and put a new screw. Then yes.

I've done this a few times without removing the pin, but it is definitely less work time to pull the pin and bore.

A tiny boring bar can get you right up to the pin

I remove the screw so I can seal and polish the cavity.
If this question should be taken offline, I'll do that, but what do you seal it with? Your method certainly produces a superior result, I don't polish them for people.

Hi Patrick
Respectfully, you should consider polishing the cavity. It's really part of the job. Just my opinion of course.
I use a home mix.
