Hello everyone, I just wanted to give my feedback regarding the zero x billiards full collection, and my progress with the stroke drill, which i took to another level.

I have been playing pool for 15 months now. I don't play league or any tournaments, i only play with friends at home and in bars. When i first started playing I watched and read everything regarding pool. I believed in having strong fundamentals, but that's with everything in my life. Its just the way i am. As i still consider myself a beginner i ordered the full zero x collection(digital) over the Christmas holiday. It was on sale for $29.99, great buy. Actually it's a steal for the amount of work Tor put into the collection. I'm glad I had the opportunity to support his product and work. The collection is fantastic. Kicking and banking, pattern play, secrets 2, he also includes the ball pocketing training ebook. Absolutely fantastic.

Since my goal is obviously to dramatically improve my game, i had no choice but to start all over from scratch, day 1, as a complete new to the game individual. So began the stroke drill, which Tor recommends doing about 2000-3000 single ball shots into a corner pocket, in order to make sure your stroke is in a straight line, your stance is correct, your grip is correct, etc. He also recommends doing a mixture of center ball, center high and center low hits. I decided to do 6,000 strokes; 1K each, center, center high, center low while looking at the contact point on the ball. Then I'm going to repeat the same drill, but making my focal point the pocket this time. After that, im going to repeat that same process with the opposite arm, in order to strengthen that arm.

I completed the 1K center ball hit Monday. 1001 total balls hit to be exact, with 7 misses  . A miss ratio of .669%.

Yesterday I started the 1K center high stroke drill. I have hit a total of 641 balls............. 17 MISSES  all due to miscuing LOL. About 25 miscues total, the difference of which went in( nice straight miscue line). I think my miscues are because i'm using a house cue, or maybe i'm sometimes beyond the miscue limit, or combination of the two. Either way I'm happy with the way things are going. I feel much more comfortable with my stroke, dropping down into my stance is more natural and automatic now, i think about "my fundamentals" less whereas just a few weeks ago i would double and triple check my stance and grip before taking a shot. And I feel like when i start playing pool again, after i complete this training(because remember, your not suppose to play any pool of any type throughout this process), I will have absolute confidence in my stroke. I will keep you all updated in the next few weeks with my results.

Since i can't play during this process, I still go to the bar and pool halls to watch, because you learn a lot when you watch, and you get to see mistakes people make that you also make, but you cant see yourself when you're shooting. My friends ask, "hey lets play a game?" I have to say, "no thanks, your not good enough for me to play anymore" :p LOL. No seriously, its not that hard to give up the game for a few weeks, when your trying to accomplish something greater. I guess it would be harder for people who play league etc, and have a commitment they have to honor. Anyway talk to you guys later.

Update 1/25/18

Ok, so i just finished 1005 single ball stroke drill today using center high. Below are the result. I'll try to keep this short as I don't want my post to become extremely long.

Date Time Center High (1000 strokes) Misses
1/23/2018 12:00PM - 1:05PM 210 2
3:50PM - 4:25PM 130 2
7:50PM - 8:05PM 80 0
1/24/2018 10:20AM - 10:45AM 88 8
11:25AM - 12:00PM 133 5
3:05PM - 3:25PM 95 15
1/25/2018 11:05AM - 11:50AM 138 10
3:55PM - 4:35PM 131 3
Total 1005 45
Miss Ratio 4.478%

I don't know why, as I have no benchmark to compare my results, either way I'm not too happy about my results compared to my center ball results. Maybe I'm being too hard on myself. 84% of my total misses were due to miscues. I was using a basic house cue. Maybe my miscues were due to the tip, the chalk, or me going beyond the miscue limit, or a combination of the 3. Either way I'm very confident it wasn't because of my stroke. I don't mind owning my mistakes, faults, shortcomings etc. I know there were some moments when the tip contact point was pretty much on top of the ball LOL. I guess I love testing the limits. I also did all of my drills using a closed bridge and open bridge. And at least during this particular center high ball drill, with an open bridge i found the cue sometimes detoured off my bridge hand upon ball contact.

Hope you all enjoy the read... Good Luck everyone.

update 1/30/18 I just finished 1000 singe ball stroke drill using center low. Below are the result.

Date Time Center Low (1000 strokes) Misses
1/26/2018 10:20AM - 11:05AM 144 0
3:30PM - 4:20PM 147 3
1/27/2018 10:00AM - 11:05AM 216 8
2:30PM - 3:00PM 130 2
5:05PM - 5:25PM 82 2
1/28/2018 5:50PM - 6:20PM 133 5
1/29/2018 10:25AM - 10:55AM 148 9
Total 1000 29
Miss ratio 2.900%

I admire you as well, that is a lot of work. I also ordered the same from zero-x over the holidays as well. I really was interested in the kicking and banking because that is what I "thought" I needed work on. After watching the videos multiple times I came to realize my fundamentals need some work and as a lot of people that learn without someone teaching them proper, I don't use the tangent line properly because I just don't know how. I try to drive the cue ball around using English and try to get shape going across my next shot line and not down it.

I can not wait for 8ball league to be done with (my first year), I'm going to start back over with the stroke drills and perfecting the sliding cue ball so I can work the table using natural angles. Its going to be interesting, a lot of work, and I am sure its going 100% worth it and make me a solid contender next year.

Absolutely,... And good luck to you...... And yes,.... I can't even imagine the percentage of people who possess bad fundamentals, even though they may be very good pool players. I could only imagine how much better they would be with good fundamentals. Lol. Just playing the tangent line, for shape is mind blowing.... I use to fall into that category, as many others do, of forcing the ball to where it needs to go, only to fail. Lol

I'm also going to submit my application for Tor's 14day experiment, which I hope I'm chosen... That would be an incredible experience.

I also own the zerox videos. I just interpreted that doing the stroke drill without an object ball was for someone who just picked up a cue for the fisrt time. If i was going to try and train my left hand, yes i’d do the drill without the object ball. I do the drill with a straight in shot 3 diamonds apart. I’ve made it a point to keep count and i just passed the 2,000 mark. But i do continue to play and practice other drills.

I learned my fundamentals from the SPF dvds by scott lee and randy g. (Along with other materials from capelle and martin)

Nice... Good Luck to you brother..... As far the statement about first picking up a cue. Idk, maybe, maybe not...... I'm Just over a year of picking up the cue for pretty much the first time and I'm doing this just to be absolutely thorough. I've also watched some of Tor's youtube videos and he makes people who have been playing for years do the stroke drill, obviously because he spotted a flaw in how straight their stroke is. I'm doing this from ground zero to make sure my stroke is straight which it is, but more importantly to engrave it into my muscle memory and sub conscious.

Always nice to see someone pick up Tor's stuff and realize what an excellent resource he is. Honestly if you never pick up another person's video, after watching Tor's you will be far more knowledgeable that 95% of the people that walk into the Hall. Good on ya for completing the stroke drill.

I bought Tor's stuff over two years ago, haven't had much of a chance to do the fundamentals stuff (can't stand paying for a table and not playing actual pool) but will get a chance in a few weeks when I (finally!!!) get my table.

Keep updating us on this thread...cuz that'd be awesome! Good Luck!

Good job. Stay with it. I have been working with all of Tor's video's since May of 2013. I was a 14 Day participant. I could only work with Tor for 3 days (24 hrs) due to my work schedule.

I really do hope that you are selected for 14 Days. Tor is probably one of the best people you will ever meet. His style of instruction is top notch.

All of his video's are very well presented.

I have attached a link that will help you to put your body in a proper position to naturally allow your arm to deliver a straight stroke. This is a golden key by Bert Kinister. In fact, all of his video's are very helpful. If you get a chance visit his website and watch all of his training video's.

Have fun and wish you the very best in accomplishing your goals in this wonderful game. :)

I was lucky to be chosen a few years back and spent 5 days with Tor..... There is a lot of info to take in.... What I found interesting was after he left, some of the things he showed me / said to me, just magically popped into my head.. My brain was taking it in while I didn't even know it.... Good luck and stay with it... The rewards will be awesome..
