1973 Meucci QB-12
2017 custom Meucci
2017 custom Meucci
2016 Joss 10-08
2016 McDermott gs07c

I completely designed the two new Meuccis. I also had a lizard skin leather wrap added to both the Joss and the McDermott when I ordered them. When the 73 Meucci was refinished @ 2 years ago, I added the alligator leather wrap myself after the cuemaker who did the refinishing told me he wasn't really comfortable adding a leather wrap.

The lizard wraps are pretty sharp, I see you know what you like!

Thanks.

I'll never have a linen wrap again. I had a plain ( no stamp, just smooth ) black leather wrap on a Palmer back in the mid-70s and wanted one again ever since. So when I ordered the Joss in 16, I added a lizard wrap. Then the same for the McDermott and both new custom Meuccis. So easy to clean and it just, to me, feels better than linen.

I agree, for me it has to be leather or wrapless. Linen is just too slippery.

Clearly you know what you like.

A nice set there.

Personally, I dig well done linen, and Cortland is the best. But well done is the key and many are not well done.

I have heard the "slippery" complaint a lot. My good linen cues are not slippery. I can cite my block letter Joss (2 of them), Dayton, Espiritu, and a handful of other old cues like my Huebler and a couple old Mali cues that I have with excellent linen.

If I were to buy a new cue today it would have leather unless I could get Cortland and get it done by an expert.

Funny you should say that. I can't ( or, don't, more accurately ) play with no wrap exactly because it's too slippery for me. S'why I hate house cues.

Hear hear!

Maybe it's just me, but I always thought putting ( urethane? ) finishes on a linen wrap was the dumbest thing I'd ever seen. One player showed me his and he was pleased as punch with it. To me, it felt exactly as a cue would with NO WRAP at all! I was like... what's the point, other than feeding the economy? It reminds me of the 60s, where some people covered their entire living room furniture in clear plastic. Ok, it protects the furniture but, hey, if you buy a new Jaguar and then NEVER DRIVE IT, you're sure as hell protecting that motor! Yesssireebob!

I think it is a matter of taste.

Obviously a finished over wrap is very common on Meucci cues.

It's a way to get a certain look with a different feel.

People like what they like and I kind of leave it at that.

True dat, homey. I always just felt if you were going to have it feel like polished wood, why not just have it *be* polished wood?
