Any experience with Schmelke Laminanted LD shafts

Is there a reason you’re opting for a 31” shaft? I would think having them build you a 31” butt would leave you more shaft options in the future as lots of companies offer 30” vs. 31” shafts.

Meucci

My guess (or hope rather) is the Black Dot being the first of it's kind they had nothing to compare or compete with. Now that the LD game is a competitive world and with Bob M. Sponsoring so many players he may have stepped up his quality.

Good luck ..

Hope you find the cue of your dreams .

I replied to your previous thread, but didn't get a response from you.
This thread is much the same, you have some basic assumptions that are both wrong and biased for no aparent reason.
Your focus on Low Deflection, makes you not focus on the more important aspects.
31" length, 14" pro taper and 12mm or smaller, that's gonna be whippy as f**k any way you slice it. If the ferrule material is XTC, Juma or Elforyn, sure have an impact on the final product, but not in the way you seem to think.
I could be wrong, but to me it sounds like you just need to try more equipment and not focus too much on all the technical stuff, see what you actually like playing with. Ask friends and other players to try their cues and see where that gets you.
Shaft diameter is a personal thing, but from my experiece, the popularity of small diameter shafts like OB2+ and Z3 have gone way down the last few years. Lots of people where initially hypnotized by the "bigger" cueball sensation you had when playing with small diameter shafts, but the small margin of error you get, means that your level of play most likely will vary more from time to time, most people find that frustrating in the end, and go back to something between 12.5 - 13mm. Allmost all the players I can think of that now play with small diameter shafts, are female, they usually have smaller hands and a 12.5mm shaft is often too thick for the ones that use a closed bridge.

I second what Kim is saying. I have a 30" shaft 12.5mm from Schmelke and it's whippy. I wouldn't recommend it. Most good players at my local pool hall use Revos and 314s - so bigger diameter.

The Jacoby Ultra is pretty Awesome!

I am very close to pulling the trigger and having Schmelke build me my custom 61" cue. I can save a lot of time if I use their PTO Laminated shaft and have them put a 1/2” XTC ferrule to make it LD.

It will not only be far less money than my alternative, a Meucci Pro shaft or a Jacoby Hybrid or Ultra.

Just looking to see if any has anyone experience with them, how do they hit, and how LD are they?

Thanks!

I'm such a huge fan of the Mezz ProEx that I have two of them but sadly both are in my spare case as all I have been playing with is the new Jacoby Ultra Hybrid, 12.7mm 30" long. It plays amazingly well great feedback and hit! Not quite as stiff as my Mezz's which I like, but this shaft just seems more linear, if that makes sense. English seems much easier to gauge and throw seems easier to anticipate. Very low deflection. Still love the Mezz ExPro but Im sticking with only the Jacoby shaft for now. I'm curious how the Jacoby Ultra 11.75 hits? is it a more conical stiffer tapper?
Sorry no experience with Schmelke's but would love to know how it stands up to the newest Mezz and Jacoby!
Tiger also has a new shaft coming out, I have a early Proto-type that hits great but I'm eager to try the initial release!
