The International 9-Ball Open

Just a word about Kevin Cheng’s game...I love how he plays, and would not at all be surprised to see him in the final.

SVB playing great so far this match.

Yowser, what a performance by Fedor Gorst!

After taking an early loss, Fedor has won six in a row on the B-side, and, in his last five matches, he has beaten, in order, Billy Thorpe, Josh Filler, Mika Immonen, Corey Deuel and Niels Feijen.

I'm impressed. Skyler Woodward is Gorst's next match. We shall see.

SVB breaking with Carbon Fiber playing shaft on his break cue now

He changed his breaking shaft out mid match

Please, dear sweet baby jesus, let Kaci beat Dennis Grabe. I got to chat with Kaci a little in the Netherlands, and he is a great kid. And Grabe is as much of an asshole as Kaci is a cool dude.

Wow, that's one of the greatest comebacks I've ever seen. Ko wins 11-10.
Although he's still alive, that's a devastating loss for Shane. Wasn't he up either 10-5 or 10-6? Anyone who watched, did he squander any chances to close out the match once he got on the hill, or did Ko not give him any good opportunities?

Most exciting match so far, for me.
Shane shoots .926...and loses to a four-pack at with Shane sitting on the hill.

Little Ko...933

Shane never got out of his chair again once he was up 10-6 and I think scratched on the break. Ko ran 5 racks!

Agreed about Kaci. He was a little shy at first, but he's a quality guy with a very positive attitude.

I'm sure that your comments about Grabe are based on your own experiences. You've seen what you've seen.

My experience has been very different. Grabe has played in nearly all of the World Series of Pool events at Steinway Billiards in Queens, NY. He has been friendly and is well liked by most of those who attend, myself included.

We can agree to disagree, Russ.

Good luck to both of these fine players.

I thought Ko's break was a bit better than Shane's in this match.... always under control, where as Shane's break was good when it was good.... but very bad when it was bad with the miscue scratch and then another scratch when he was breaking on the Hill.

That 2nd scratch was the killer.

There are no words to that would give justice to what I just saw , fuuukin unbelievable what a display of pool little Ko came up with ,

5 Pack for Ko to win the match is a heartbreaker for SVB

Congrats to Baby Ko. I've always felt he does several things better than Big Ko, but Big Ko has a much better break. When Baby Ko is breaking well, he's crazy tough to beat.

If he broke and ran the last five, I guess his break was working. What a fantastic comeback! Baby Ko is certainly one of the contenders for the title now.

Almost deserved to lose if he miscued and scratched on his break early in the match, and then scratched on the break when he was on the hill. To get this correct, the score was 10-6 at that time, then Ko took ball-in-hand off that SVB scratch on the break, and ran out the rack, then broke and ran the final 4 racks?

It's not nearly as devastating a loss when your opponent runs out the set on you as opposed to when you squander numerous opportunities to win that final game once on the hill. I'm guessing Shane will regroup in his next match, but likely won't sleep very well tonight, thinking about that scratch on his final turn at the table.
