You can foul on a push by pushing

Yes you can foul on a push by pushing

Never seen that before.
Never even heard of anyone calling it.
Occurred at a World championships match.

The angle is hard to see for me, but it does not look like it was a push shot, yes he shot it soft but it looked like it went through the cueball smoothly without any secondary or too long of a contact.

I have seen players do nothing but "call" a push out and not actually touch the cueball, just say "push" and hand over the table to the person. Which is not legal.

...
The cue ball moved as far as the object ball (but neither one moved very far). It looked like the hit was pretty full and was played with close to center ball. I think there is no way for the cue ball to go forward that far without a second hit.

Not legal and has little to no advantage.

Good. And then maybe 90% of thr players who misuse the term “push shot” will understand.

Oh wait... it’s not a push ... it’s a double hit.

Totally agree. Drives me crazy to see all of these one time in Vegas...... League guys in my town arguing over this "Push Shot" thing when most of them don't know what a "Push Shot" is..... Its a "Double Hit" people..... A push shot is totally different

Here's a match between Jeffrey Ignacio and Ronnie Alcano. Jeffrey apparently "pushes" on a push out at 3:56. Ronnie sees this and calls a foul. Then at 6:40 Ronnie demonstrates pushing the cue ball which I thought was hilarious. Thought I'd share this with you guys.

Looks like a push / double hit to me. Otherwise, as close as the two balls were together and that he was stroking it nearly straight on, no way the cue ball runs directly behind and with the object ball at the same speed. The ref was in the correct position to call it and did so.
