2019 Mosconi Cup Points Events

What are they?!?!

Turning Stone?
Derby City nine ball ?

Has a list been released?

How do the players know what events to attend to qualify?

Is Johan Ruysink the captain again with all his success so far ?

They didn’t have points last year, they had boot camps. This would be a good year to have events and points though.

Seems like last year their method worked - do you really want to get back to losing so soon?

Such a short memory AZ has.

The point is nothing has been announced...
Point events or boot camps or a captain

But you must be careful if it’s only boot camps and who gets invited and why?

Can Earl or Archer or Hatch or Bergman or Oscar or whoever make the team if they or anyone else wants to represent team USA but are not invited to the “boot camps”

If boot camps are the answer will they be easily accessible to all the top players in the country?

Good question

The problem with points events is that it selects a strong-ish team but not the best team to win. It favors a pro that can afford to adjust his schedule to hit all the points events with fair to middling results. It hurts since we don’t have a well organized tour that we can expect all the top pros to be at every time. That can favor hall of fame pros that are past their prime and not as strong as some up and comers.

Valid points... but Matchroom needs to announce the system for which the team will be constructed, either with points events or a captains own system for which a pool of players needs to be selected and announced... but that should start with the captains selection.... are we lucky enough to to have johan and Jeremy back? That would be great! But the team itself should not be the same team.... all Americans need an opportunity to represent should they be playing at the top 5 rotation level in the country...I’m sure SVB and Woodward are virtual locks.... but i also see Justin Bergman as a lock as well and if so that means one of Thorpe, Styer and Deuel would be out. Also love John Schmidt’s game and he is playing a lot and played superb in his last Mosconi Cup appearance. Love Oscars gambling all the top players in the world to prove himself... and he has. A short race is more about handling pressure than anything else and i think Oscar can.

Also love Earl for the team still... He simply stands up to the pressure as good as anyone on earth still, even at his age. I see a short race perfect for him... that plus his shotmaking under the biggest stage and even his passion, all pluses.

Also if time is put in from Hatch, Archer, Daulton, Morris, Owen, and Jeremy Jones then they all deserve a CLOSE look. All US Open champions except Daulton who is a multiple Derby city nine ball champion.

Plus all the other great Young players who deserve a chance to play their way on to the team... point being we all need to know how to make the team, especially if Matchroom wants build up... let’s get the process started

It has been only 5 weeks since the 2018 Cup ended.

Last year, it was mid February when announcements were made as to how things would work for 2018.

Earl stands up to the pressure? Is that a joke? He can’t even handle playing in a state open without flying off the rails.

I never thought I'd be saying this, but I disagree. Let the younger players lead the way for American pool in the Mosconi Cup. Look at young Tyler, what he brought to the Mosconi Cup table for Team USA. Skyler was MVP.

I love Jeremy Jones as co-captain with Johan. Keep it that way. Let's not break a winning strategy. Everybody respects Jeremy as a player and as a commentator and as a champion.

I hope to see Justin Bergman in the fray next year.

Can agree with Justin, but let's let the leaders decide. If you remember a few years ago, I suggested an "old school" Mosconi with Keith, Buddy, etc. Playing a warm up against Euro. Would really like to see that along with some cash for our(and their) old time hero's. Let's face it, everybody loves Keith and in this format it would probably, no probably about it, draw a bigger rating than the MC itself.
