EDIT jump cue OR break/jump that is specifically being carried so that you are enabled to jump

Since we are discussing jump cues and whether they should be banned - I thought it would be interesting to find out despite how we feel, who is employing the use of jump cues. It could very well be that we are all jumping even though some or most disapprove of the practice.

Don't even have a bag, lol. I play on my own table, pretty much that's it and I have my own rule, because of my lack of skills and from having teenagers around not all that long ago - no jump shots! But I enjoy watching folks that know how using them.

I have a cue that I use to break with which has a one piece phenolic ferrule/tip. Does that count?

I have a break/jump cue in my bag now. Prior to that I had a jump handle.

You tell me. I have a break/jump cue. I never jump. I like to kick. The rails are your friend and play kick safes if need be.
Is a break/jump cue considered a jump cue even if you don't use the jump part?

In this context I think if you are carrying a break jump ONLY because it breaks good - answer to the question is no. but if you are carrying the break jump so that you are enabled to jump the answer is yes.

Thank you. I will vote "no."

I own one. Lucasi. I do not and have not carried it with me in many moons. It lives in a case I use for storage only. No for me.

The people that don’t carry them, my question is why? I read on other threads that jumping makes simple work and people like traditional play of kicking or banking, ok I agree with this but..........if the rules dictate that jumping is allowed, why wouldn’t you want to take advantage of the rules giving you the best chance of winning? I would argue that ball in hand goes against traditional play so why wouldn’t these non jumpers just play cueball in kitchen because ball in hand makes the game to easy????? I can honestly say the rules dictate how or what I use!

If the rules say yes then I'd be all for it. I never got accustomed to using one because most of the places I played in the past wouldn't allow them due to fears of ripping the felt.

I don't jump. I actually prefer kicking. If you are confident using the rails then you can play a kick safe.
Most players that jump are not even closely proficient at jumping. I find that most of the time I get ball in hand after an opponent jumps and even if they make a good hit and make their ball they have no shape on their next shot.
I do know a few guys the are deadly with a jump stick but they are 1 in 50.

Yep. Have a Jacoby jump cue that I love and I’m decently skilled with it I think. Relative to my overall game, jumping is a strength.

But I get arguments against it too. I’d be fine if they were banned but until they are I’ll carry and use mine.

Looks to me this is MUCH more accurate on how things ARE and not "what they should be"

Jump cues are not going anywhere :)

Long live TIGHT RACKS on women<<< hehe

I carry a Predator Air 2 jump cue in my bag. Technically I cary it for use as a short cue for a crappy bar we play at with walls too close to the table on both sides. There is no place around me that allows jump cues so I can never jump with it. I d occasionally travel to areas with jumping is allowed so I will use it there. So although I answered yes, I gus maybe I should have answered no. Sorry I am no help lol.
