Siming Chen vs Donny Mills

Just to add some fuel to this fire. Wilkie is a rated 742 and Mills is 749.

People need to be careful about reading too much into this match. It would NOT be the first time someone played under their speed in a small matchup to get the side bets right on a bigger game.

And if it's on video for the world to see? All the better.

I think anyone thinking Donny is gonna run over Siming and bets accordingly is gonna get their nuts shot off.

Well unless your living on Mars its pretty clear Roy's Basement has caused plenty of interest in these head to head matches not only his but its sparked others to produce them in fact more than I can ever remember seeing , I expect this yr is going to be the best of all time in said type matches and its not going to be AZ members leading the viewership its FB followers

We needed Roy around when TAR was here. Shane and Mars would either be a millionaires or broke. Lol

How can I see some of those TAR matches? I know they were a ppv type deal and they're not going on anymore but is there still some way to get to them? I've watched a few of the podcasts and they got me all pumped up for action but... Oh women vs men, fargo, 7:1, blah I'm on topic.

I am sorry, but I have to call a spade a spade. People like Roy drove TAR out of business. TAR presented action matches in HD, with professional commentary, in a private venue, with the highest of production values and actually spent money on high quality advertising.

Roy and others like him throw up a camera on a tripod, hook it into a basic streaming service, and away we go.

I for one am sorry to have seen TAR bite the dust so quickly, but realize it was because streaming of pool matches has basically zero barriers to entry.

We have action and tournament matches nonstop thanks to Roy.
I loved TAR, but for the amount of coverage Roy gives us, I couldn't care less about a commentator.

I too was sorry to see TAR end, but other streamers was not the only reason......

I imagine he may be a little salty, having put quite a bit of money into TAR, and then having it all pulled out from under him by someone buying a $300 camera, getting a UStream account, and streaming their local bar table tournament.
Stay on the Short Bus , it had nothing to do with that and everything to do with CSI and Ozzy coming on board ,

Not true at all. The people who watched TAR watched it for the matches they brought not to see a race to 7 on BBs. The 2 are completely different.

Competition makes everything better - nobody owns streaming pool.

If the market wasnt there, then the market wasnt there.

I personally loved the races to 100, hell, I'd watch a race to 1,000. The problem is all the crybabys saying the races were too long - my advice to them was turn it on whenever you want and watch for as long as you want, dont try to limit our enjoyment of great pool for an entire weekend.

As I said above it had nothing to do with anything else other than CSI moving in

Can you explain what you mean by this? I mean, explain the exact mechanics of how CSI had anything to do with the closing up shop of a high-end, one-on-one action match streaming service?

I am not saying this was not the reason, I just don't understand in what way CSI was competing with TAR? JCIN definitely seemed to be bummed about having to shut down TAR, and I got the distinct impression that it was because a lot of these little tournaments being streamed were a. lower priced than a TAR match, and b. more easily digestable because of the shorter match length, and getting to see many different players.

I would appreciate a little more clarification on this, if you have the time.

The long and Short was it was a joint venture when Ozzy came on board it got shut down it wasn't coincidence , they say it wasn't making money , however they started their own matches and streaming tournys

So CSI/JCIN were in a partnership, and Ozzy pulled the plug and had CSI start it's own streaming service?

I always thought that dude looked like some sort of movie villain.

Right.. Because TAR, because he had a brick and mortar site, and had expensive, high fidelity equipment, was much more expensive to run, and simply could not compete with low end, cheaper solutions.

Cheap people also buy Chinese knockoff Nikes, as well.

I'm not so sure that they were competing with "cheaper solutions" How do you compare Bustamante vs SVB to these 'regional streamers' showing matches between guys no one ever heard of until perhaps the finals. It really isnt til the last couple of years that real TAR type match-ups have been shown by any of these guys.

If you had to amortize the brick and mortar site, I agree they probably could never show a profit, but i kinda figured, it was just 'extra space' CSI had that they wanted to do something with. I THINK and i have no real knowledge whatsoever that personality conflicts contributed to TAR's demise. I sure enjoyed it. I'm fairly certain i watched 90% plus of their shows in real time.
