Do you pay attention...curious

I thought I paid more attention but evidently not. I was practicing for a tournament with a friend today and, after pocketing the 9, he asked if that made it three in a row. I hadn't noticed but knew it must have been more than one. I'm sure I haven't done that very often though.

Do you pay attention to how many racks you break and run in a average day of playing? Get excited to run one?

I know I don't, only notice when it is a opponent keeping me sitting in a chair for 2 or 3 games. Rarely notice when I run a rack, unless whoever I'm playing makes a comment.

Think I may be missing out on the joy of doing something good at pool, and just focus on winning the set. Can't say I get a ton of joy in even that.

Thank goodness it is fishing season, that I do get amped up about.

I ran 4 from the snap playing 8 ball in a bar with a house cue, waayyyyyyyyy back in the day and had no idea at all until the guy staking me said "You just strung 4 racks." The guy I was *playing* definitely noticed, though... and then proceeded to break his rather expensive cue into about 5 pieces. Which, because he was a d**k, I found pretty amusing.

Reminds me of a funny deal. There was a local guy, pretty decent player, that just got smoked playin' 9b on table 1 at the Billiard Palace in Tulsa. As he headed out the door with his still-assembled JossWest we all begged/pleaded to buy it but NO, we all knew what was gonna happen. Dude walked out to the sign pole and WHAM, just Mickey Mantle'd that cue on it. That poor, beautiful cue just EXPLODED. A local cue guy ran over and grabbed the joint and used it to make a nice cue. It was brutal(and f^*$ing hilarious) to sweat.

Wow. I can be a bad loser in some respects but I've never damaged my equipment. That makes the loss cost double!

Dude... I was trying SO F'ING hard not to laugh at that guy. It's a long story and I posted it here at least once if not twice in the past so I won't torture anyone with it again, but, man... It was REALLLLYYY hard not to fall down laughing. It was a GORGEOUS Tillis with a s**t-ton of ivory and pearl inlay. This was '75 ( or so ) and it was at least a 500.00 cue back then. And the butt ended up in at least 3 pieces. And he was stupid enough to break it apart against the metal edge of the ( fairly new-ish ) 8' Valley BB. Which, as one can imagine, made the owner ( and to boot, it was a huge, biker-themed strip club with 6 Valley tables ) none too happy. So the idiot was promptly grabbed by his hair ( middle back length ) and a** by a pair of HEAVILY tattooed ham-sized arms and tossed, literally, out the back door. It was like something out of a Fritz the Cat cartoon. Hysterical. And of course I got stiffed the last game but the entertainment value covered it. :D

I have my Grandpa's cane on two nails that are wrapped to protect the cane. Next to it I have a 5x7 card that I keep track of every table run I have. When I mark the card for a table run I rotate his cane so it doesn't warp. If anyone comes over and gets a TR, their name goes up on the card and they enter the yearly count.

I had to lol about the fishing comment. My pool game peaks twice a year. It peaks in late February, been too cold to fish so I play a lot of pool, then in March the steelhead fishing heats up. Then it peaks again about the end of August because for the six weeks prior it's been too hot to fish for trout, September comes and the salmon run starts to happen and the trout fishing picks back up.
