Do you pay attention to how many racks you break and run in a average day of playing? Get excited to run one?
I know I don't, only notice when it is a opponent keeping me sitting in a chair for 2 or 3 games. Rarely notice when I run a rack, unless whoever I'm playing makes a comment.
Think I may be missing out on the joy of doing something good at pool, and just focus on winning the set. Can't say I get a ton of joy in even that.
Thank goodness it is fishing season, that I do get amped up about.
Reminds me of a funny deal. There was a local guy, pretty decent player, that just got smoked playin' 9b on table 1 at the Billiard Palace in Tulsa. As he headed out the door with his still-assembled JossWest we all begged/pleaded to buy it but NO, we all knew what was gonna happen. Dude walked out to the sign pole and WHAM, just Mickey Mantle'd that cue on it. That poor, beautiful cue just EXPLODED. A local cue guy ran over and grabbed the joint and used it to make a nice cue. It was brutal(and f^*$ing hilarious) to sweat.I ran 4 from the snap playing 8 ball in a bar with a house cue, waayyyyyyyyy back in the day and had no idea at all until the guy staking me said "You just strung 4 racks." The guy I was *playing* definitely noticed, though... and then proceeded to break his rather expensive cue into about 5 pieces. Which, because he was a d**k, I found pretty amusing.
