Watching mr. 400 trying to break the record

There are many great Straight Pool players who NEVER ran over 300 balls in their life! I don't know how many times John has done it so far but I strongly suspect he has more 300+ runs than anyone else in the history of Pool.

When he reaches the high 300's you can begin to sniff the record is in sight. How he is able to get back in the box and try again after all those near misses is beyond me. A lesser man would have given up long ago.

I think he has about 24 300+ runs now. At one point he had the 400 and no runs in the 300s, I believe.

He's at 140 right now. Broke from the end rail and ended on the foot rail but made the shot. The rack is well open.

At 154 and breaking from the end rail again with a little stretch... draws to the end rail hitting a ball from the corner pocket. Still swinging but stuck for a shot... long half-ball cut to the far corner -- nothing but net.

At 168 and shooting a thin break on the left side of the rack. Nice break but he's jacked up -- takes a medium tough combo instead. Balls are mostly loose.

At 182 -- the break ball is a little high, breaking from the end rail. Draws to the end rail and back between the side pockets.

Update, Bob?

A nice 6-ball end pattern gets him on a nice break shot at 196 -- the balls open well and he has a shot. And he passes 200 again.

210 and on a nice break shot. The cue follows off two cushions and ends on the head rail. He makes the long shot but is looking at another one and he's jacked up. It goes. Free breathing restored. Now eight balls on the table and a foot between everything. If you can't run these you need to take up nine ball. The last three turn out to be a little awkward. Makes a long shot on his key ball and gets perfect.

Breaking at 224 from the end rail again.

How to work the booth, Bob!

At 224 I think this is a bad angle for draw from the end rail. A scratch is on. Plays it with follow and slides off the side of the rack to hit a ball from the corner pocket. A small cluster in the rack area but lots of open balls.

He breaks the cluster but makes a couple more. There is no obvious break shot and a couple of balls on the side cushions. It's starting to look like a side pocket break.

Well, at 238 he has a break ball almost frozen on the side rail just above the rack. The is the angle that is most likely to freeze....

And at 239 he is frozen on the side of the rack.

And he kicks in a ball to escape. Two shots later he has them broken but is looking at another full-length from the rail -- it goes.

He gets to 252 with a head-rail key-key ball. He's a little full on the break ball and shooting from the end rail again.

A nice stun shot gets a medium break and seven balls loose.

Five balls left and he has an awkward pair frozen near the spot. He plays them both to head pockets and leaves the cue ball in the rack.

At 266 and breaking from the kitchen... a nice controlled break. Five balls loose -- this will take a little work.

Rebreaks but there is still a cluster of 4 in the rack. Quickly gets them apart. No good break but there is one on the side rail a little high. He leaves himself too straight to stun over for the key ball but makes a perfect long draw shot. At 280 with a good (but a little high) break shot.

A nice break leaves a small cluster in the rack -- in three shots they are apart, but there are two awkward groups. With five balls on the table, he bumps one into break position. Breaking from the end rail again at 294 but this time the cue ball is 18 inches above the sides.

Fairly controlled break and nine balls are loose. He's looking to get the five in the middle apart again.

300 and counting! But no obvious pattern with seven balls left.

At 308 and breaking from the end rail again. Time to clean the balls.

The stream was restarted. You may have to reload.

Okay, John....instead of letting the pressure build, it’s time to remember why you play...
...time to fall in love with the situation.

C’MON SCHMITTY

Breaks from the end rail at 308 -- very nice spread and a couple of shots to start with and a reasonable break ball.

Are we watching the same stream? He definitely missed a corner pocket shot...maybe two of them.

I probably hit the wrong stream after they cut it off

You seem to be watching an old recording or stream. Try reloading or go back to Bull Shooter's Facebook page.

In any case, John missed at 320. I imagine that's all for today. Pretty impressive and he seems to have gotten back his focus.
