Siming Vs Shane: 7 sets race to 11

Too bad about the FB limitations, but that is life with ASCAP or whomever polices that stuff - still think there should be an exception for music simply captured in a video of someone else who has background music, bet there will be someday.

I'll try and watch later. Don't like it 100% muted, and really don't like the music being played it over after editing at all.

As he says, it's better than not having it at all. Maybe I'll run it while I'm watching something else on TV and look in. It's worth watching, just can't get into it yet on a Sunday morning.

One thing I noticed, that without commentary/background noise, I'm more focused on the players and their mindset and my inner what-would-do voice.
Eventually, if you mute and play something you enjoy...anything without vocals...maybe some classic Bach or even a movie score...you can zero in.
I was actually aware and didn't drift at all for the entire 2+ hours.
Haven't done that in a while.
Also the stellar play by both players didn't hurt things at all. Great match.

That's been my point all along. Just give us the ambient noise and those commentators can find another job. They are distracting at best and aggravatingly obnoxious at worst. If these streams gave us the choice of Ambient sounds only or full commentary, I bet they'd be surprised at the choices we'd make. An introduction and background info before the match would be fine. Then go away!

Anyone have the cumulative match score by game?

SPOILER ALERT

day 2 set scores were as follow

11-10 siming wins
11-9 shane wins
11-5 shane wins

32-25 overall game score

sample size is obviously way too small to draw any conclusive data from, but still interesting

I'm also getting the feeling they are just free wheeling with nothing at stake

I agree it looks friendly but I doubt they are just playing for funsies. Why even play a race, in that case? Let alone a series of races over several days...

I know this is sexist but it’s also true. They don’t need money to be playing for stakes. Any streamed match against her is gambling a gain to her legacy vs. a loss to yours. And that’s in spite of her already being a world beater.

Bingo. It's not sexist--it's reality.
In this century, streaming = forever.
Shane wasn't just laying back on that first Day and she was coming at him with everything. Shane opened up with a 4 pack on the second set and when he broke the 5th rack he was not happy when he didn't have an open look. His reaction let me know this wasn't just any practice/exhibition match.

Listening to day 2...

Time: 18:46

SVB: I told Billy, on the way here, you can’t beat her.
ROY: I know he wants to try
SVB: ??????........She’ll rob you
ROY: Are you serious, though?
SVB: Yeah

What an excellent catch you made there!
SVB dropping the reality check.

Curious about her break without a template. Does anyone know how well she breaks with a "traditional" rack?

She runs balls as well as I've seen, and plays smart safeties. So the only thing left is that break with a lookie-loo at the 1 ball every time AKA like the top male pros.

Wish I could shoot half as good as her...

Shit, if you think the same Shane shows up for $100 set, as the one that shows up for a 10k one...

Ya'd just be wrong.

I think this idea of someone playing better for $10,000 than for $100 is hilarious. There is no evidence for it.

And besides, even if there was a play better when you really really want it as opposed to just really want it effect, wouldn't it apply to the opponent as well?

Suppose we told John Schmidt that if he didn't break 500 in the next 30 hours of trying we were going to toss his motorcycles and guns into the ocean. Would he be more likely to succeed? I doubt it. If there is any effect at all, I think it would go in the other direction.

I'd like to Chen vs Sky for a small paycheck.

This is too much like a practice session.
