Any ball in your pocket counts, even on the break.
...you do not have to make a ball on the break.
The popular break was to place whitey about a foot off center...
...on the opposite side of your chosen pocket....and cream puff the head ball full.
Hopkins came up with second and third balls thin...to his pocket....
...got more 15 ball runs...but not necessarily the best break for the cash.
It was tried lots....but not the best for getting a shot after the break.
...the cream puff break was good because whitey backed up towards the middle.
....hit dead center, of course
thanks for the cite and correction it was listed as 4 on my grand list compiled from a few others off de old web will have Ed update it with the correction
kicking at the side of the rack to hit it pretty square works very well also fwiw....
