Hmmmm. I wonder why that could be?
I have always wondered why they make cues and shafts in different weights and diameters too.
Seems to me that everybody should just play with the exact same equipment whether it 'fits' them or not. :thumbup:
I’m not saying their needs to be a set standard but....
Aren’t “most” cues 58”? 29” x 29”?
So if the butt is 29”, why do some current players “want” a 30” Shaft?
Why not a 30” Shaft and a 30” butt?
or a 31”/32”/33” shaft on a 29” butt?
And..... thickness and taper of the butt, taper of the shaft, total weight, forward/rear balance is not what I am asking about.
I can reason why their are different preferences for those areas.
My question is only for the shaft length.

Shaft length is a bit different.
No one is getting shorter shafts!
Some people want 59" cues. Its personal preference.

I got it off off Fleabay as explained in the OP.
There was no mention of the longer length in the listing.

I answered you, longer cue using an existing 29" butt.

Because it makes it easier to reach the cue ball would be an answer.
If you order a custom cue that is 59" then i would expect a 29 1/2 split. If you have a 29" butt and want a 59" cue then you need an after market 30" shaft. Its nice to have an extra inch its also nice to have a slightly more forward balanced cue.

No answer to your particular query, but just an FYI, you can contact the seller of any ebay listing and ask pertinent questions before bidding.

Did you ask about the shaft length on every cue purchase you have ever did?
It's better to buy a shaft longer than 29" that one that is shorter.
If you don't like it, take an inch off.
Some people buy a cue and then want something a tad longer, so they buy an extra shaft with an added inch or two length on it. It is cheaper than having another cue made that is split 50/50.
