Johan and Jeremy, coming with that captain call, walking to the mound and making the signal to the bullpen—time to light a fire and defend the Cup!

Smart move. You gotta take the hot player and JB's definitely in better stroke than ME or CD.

Great article, wouldn’t expect anything less from Coach Johan. It’s a good move.

I agree, a tough decision with in my opinion a good justification. Certainly going to sting a bit for Corey and Max.

Thanks for the heads up JAM.

Cheers,

As someone from southern Illinois and watching Bergman play as a kid (9-11yr old) , being coached by Mark Wilson at Teachers Billiards in Belleville, this made my morning. Go Team USA!!

I’m hindsight, it was a mistake to not include him in the Dream Challenge and other prep.

That's rough for Max and Corey. They jumped through
all the Mosconi training camp hoops only to be usurped
by the young Justin Bergman.
I am happy with their choice and he is the best
we could have hoped for. U.S.A needs him,
Europe comes with an exceptionally strong team
year after year.

Now that being said, next year is the line of
contenders going to be willing to jump through
all the hoops knowing how this went down?

I think Bergman did put himself out there, but was cut earlier. If he had not tried, it would be different.

I don't believe he was ever cut. I believe the issue was he said he couldn't commit to all the travel, for whatever reason

Your last paragraph raises valid point. I'm glad JB is going to play but they either ought to have no selection system OR stick to the system as described. Feel bad for Max. CD's been there/done that but this would been a major deal for Max.

I (respectfully) disagree. If they didn’t have their process we wouldn’t have Tyler. If they were OCD about their process we wouldn’t have had SVB last year or JB this year. I think their approach is working.

That's kinda my point. If they're going to wait til last minute for final selection(s) then just be up front about it from the get go. Based on what went down in Vegas and Russia CD and ME probably thought it was down to them. If this is how they want to choose a team that's great, just don't blow smoke up a player's ass telling him he's in the final two.
