maybe that tip shaping thing is common? i hadn't seen it before
It is a form of "ball turning" or "radius turning" attachment, They are a fairly common extra on metal lathes, often home built (mine is

is that flat spindle/chuck common as well? it seems to function as the er32 type

i did not know that. unique lathes like cue companion seem to be using the same. this type of collet ruins the shafts?
