Derby City Ring Games

Grady

Pro Player
I'll be doing the DCC Ring Games in Jan. Greg Sullivan and I would like to have 12 players in order to have two ring games. Any pro with the entry fee can play in these. There will not be any favoritism and it will be on a first come first serve basis. The entry fee is slated to be $5,000, unless there is a problem raising the entry fees, in which case it could be lowered to $3,000.
If I had done the U.S. Open ring game, it would have happened, instead of all the confusion.

Then, and with due respect to a man whom I greatly admire and whose coutless contributions to pool are indisputable, why didn't the ring game happen at the Big Apple Nine Ball challenge in New York City?

Anyway, that question aside, good luck with the DCC ring game. I have always appreciated your continuing contributions to the game.

I'm sure that at least One ring game at DCC will happen....Grady did a wonderful job last year. The Ring game has that gambling adrenaline feel to it when the price of the racks go up and up. DCC has that feel to it, Sometimes Derby feels like a gambling venue that happens to have a tournament going on at the same time. Derby should always have a ring game. I would only suggest that the ring game be held the night before the Nine ball tournament starts instead of at the start of the tournament.

SJM, just wondering, because I don't know, how much lead time was involved in the NY tourney?

Hemi, that's a tough one to answer, but the flyer for the tournament that I was given when I purchased my tickets about fifteen days before the event had the details. The ring game announcement included the fact that Grady was running it and that it would take place at 2:00 PM on the Wednesday, approximately four hours before the scheduled players meeting.

I called Master Billiards on the night before the scheduled ring game, to make sure it was still on, and was told it was. On Wednesday, I went to Master billiards to watch it, only to learn that it had been cancelled.
