Is it possible to remove the clear coat and salvage the underlying linen wrap on a Meucci? If so, how? Or do I need to just get a new wrap put on?

Re-wrap. Had a guy try this once and it wasn't pretty. Just re-wrap it.
I did it once to a Meucci.
I put the butt on a lath and taped off the wood from the wrap.
I spun it up and broke the coating with rough then finer sandpaper almost to the wrap.
I then used paint remover(I think thats what it was I did 25 years ago)
It dissolved the remaining coating and I used a rag with remover as the butt spun to soak all off.
I let it dry and pressed it.
Came out great.

yep, materials are little different, its all the enviro safe it can be, water clean up.
just apply, it may move in a few minutes or a couple of hours, just depends on what the finish is.
as soon as you see it break down wipe down fairly quick with a very wet cloth, see how close you are to linen.
then carry on from there from what you learned from the first application. It won't be hard on the linen for a very short time.
