Antique billiards balls

I am far from expert but I think the cue ball is missing. Often these old sets were clay with one ivory ball, the cue ball, or that is what I read long ago. I think the purpose of those special brown, almost bronze colored break balls was to prevent damage to an ivory cue ball which was a little rounder, a little better balanced than the clay balls although perfect was extremely rare.
