Help Dating Cue & Why Does A Jump/Break Have 2 Shafts? (Woodworth)

Hello, Just received this old(?) Woodworth cue moments ago. I kinda made the purchase sight unseen, and I have to say I'm delighted with the condition. Although, I have not hit a ball with it yet, nor has it been rolled on a table...

In the meantime, I have a couple questions that I'm hoping the forum can help with.

I'm curious when it was made, roughly? My impression from the seller was that this is a older cue. However, I am little thrown off by the condition. The finish is un-worn and glistening, and the condition of the shafts is impeccable...

My second question is, Why does a jump/break need two shafts? Is one of them for shooting, and not jumping/breaking? I can't tell the tip densities without hitting some balls.

EDIT: Any guesses on the wood species of the darker brown wood?

TIA

I have an Andy Gilbert Jump/break with a built in extension- rare- and one shaft has a j/b tip and the other shaft has a playing tip - Andy's j/bs are great players too! I am sure yours is as well- that is why 2 shafts.

As said above, the second shaft probably has a different taper, hence a shooting shaft.
Personally, I love a good jump/break taper for shooting. They generally have fat conical taper.

The second shaft is likely a shooting shaft.
I Think they are prob both regular shafts. There was a decent few years when j/b cues were sold with regular shafts...then we figured out that makes neither the best jump nor break,...and perhaps even playing cue.

With a dedicated j/b tip that would be a fine j/b, imo., As would it prob be a fine playing cue with users tip of choice.

Way easier to carry a jump cue when it is attached to a butt and does not need its own shaft.

Fuck. I'm sold. I'm buying that mfer.

Both appear to be "pro taper." One tip appears ever-so-slightly larger. The larger tipped shaft could be slightly less pro taper, it's difficult to tell. It might just be illusion due to being slightly thicker. Differences between tapers, if any, is very subtle.

I had a chance to hit some balls tonight.

Both the shafts are playing shafts. I'd guess the tip is a medium on both.

Still trying to determine relative age of this cue. Also fielding opinions on what the darker wood species might be.

Thanks for the input on this. This cue has a very balanced, yet solid feel all the way through. I think it's a winner. This was purely an impulse buy, not intended to replace my current playing setup, but it will make a great wall queen slash backup cue.
