FYI, I just posted a new video demonstrating a score-based version of the Runout Drill System (RDS), consisting of a set of 16 break-and-run challenges of increasing levels of difficulty. In the scored version of RDS (RDS 100), you run through one rack at each level, starting with 100 points and deducting points left on the table after each miss or foul. Check it out:

As always, I look forward to your feedback, comments, questions, complaints, and requests. I also hope you decide to participate in the Challenge. All the scores and videos to date can be found in the YouTube video description.

Good luck,
Dave

FYI, I just posted a 93, my PR and the current best score to date. Let's see who will be the first to beat it, and let's see who will be the first to get a perfect score of 100. I certainly had the opportunity this time, but I blew it with misses of three easy shots. Here's the video:

FYI, Eric Simpson has been organizing and running live-stream tournaments for the Run-out Drill System (RDS) 100 Challenge. Yesterday, Lil' Chris and I participated in the pre-tournament online discussion and chat here:

If you want to enter the current or any future tournament, contact Eric at: Eric.simpson1989@gmail.com

The tournaments have money and T-shirt prizes. The current RDS 100 high score is 93. Let's see who can be the first to reach 100! There is a $100 bonus to the first person to get a perfect score of 100 live. A T-shirt of choice from DrDaveBilliardTshirts.com also goes to the 1st place finisher in each tournament of 8 or more players.

And if you prefer to not participate live, you can still post offline videos to be included in the video description of the RDS 100 Challenge video and in the AZB BU Sticky thread.

Good luck and have fun,
Dave

FYI, based my now vast experience with RDS, and based on input from others, I've made a slight change to Levels 6 and 8 (the 7-ball and 9-ball 8 ball run-outs). They now both allow one extra BIH. I've updated the RDS document.

Regards,
Dave
This answered my question about level 6, but the RDS document bullet point could be updated to say ‘play standard 8-ball rules, except take cue ball in hand after the break and once any time during the run’ similar to the Level 5 wordage.

I was almost positive another BiH was permitted at Level 6, but needed to be 100% sure.

Thank you for letting me know. FYI, I just updated the document. If you reload it in your browser, you can see the new version.

FYI, Level 1 has been changed to be "optional," so it can now be skipped. That will speed up the early going a little and keep chalk marks off the OBs.

I insist that all new entries that don't adhere to the original scope of the RDS-100 Challenge be listed with an ***

Do you plan to try for the 100 now that you don't need to complete Level 1? :geek:

I’ve been revisiting the RDS, and I am preferring to get into a groove and stick with a level longer than three attempts to determine whether my level advances, stays, or demotes. I find myself jumping back and forth too much with only three racks at a level.

So what percentages are recommended for extended sessions; the suggested 66% to advance, 33% to stay and 0% to demote?

I think the 2/3 (advance), 1/3 (stay), and 0/3 (demote) are the right proportions. I like your idea of staying at each level a little longer to get a more-accurate run percentage. I also like the RDS 100 Challenge, where you do each rack only once to get more variety and a fast score you can use to set goals and monitor your PR:

Have fun with RDS,
Dave
