Oh, I'm aware of how hot the exhaust gets.
In the 70s, I had a friend who just got a new Kawasaki. I don't remember the details as it was a long time ago, but for whatever reason we had a makeshift "ramp" (a narrow piece of lumber) and were going to get the bike up on the porch. (He lived in a rough neighborhood.) Well, the bike was falling off and I grabbed the exhaust to keep it on the ramp and....well, let's just say I've never touched a motorcycle exhaust again, even a cold one.
That's a chick, riding "bitch" on a bike with the rear pegs removed. She melted her boot and ruined his chrome.
I've been riding for 40 years. I had one bike that I wasn't used to and 2nd degree burned my ankles a half dozen times before I learned.
