Brunswick Rubber drop Pockets? Shave corners?

Hello AZB Table mechanics, recently acquired a 8ft Pro Centurion table with drop pockets. 1 owner table, everything is in great shape. My only issue is that the thick rubber pocket corners seem to reject balls instead of a smooth transition from the facing, should I shave them down & re-profile them? What have others done here?

Picks would help with the visualization of your issue.

My god.
Remove those crappy drop pockets and install new ones and trim them back so they sit at the end of the cushion facings.
No wonder you were having problems. :) :) :) .

I agree with the others here, and one other thing…it would be good to get those side pocket facing angles corrected. They aren’t clean angles at all. You might need to get a mechanic to splice in new wood and recut those miters in all the pockets.

Those are horrible, they need to be swapped out. You will be very happy you did. There’s lots of smarter people here than me. Listen to them.

best of luck,

I would cut them back to flush with the back end of the facings.

As a back up plan if needed, are replacements going to be the same as the GC? Where can I locate what's needed for this Centurion?

It depends on your pocket castings. If they have the provisions for screw in pocket liners, then yes, Gold Crown replacements will work. If not, they will not work and will be worse than what you have now.
