American 14.1 Straight Pool Championship

In the distant past, I have played large festivals/concerts for ‘pocket change’, just to be on the same bill as the legendary musicians I idolized. I imagine those players who love straight pool and have worked at it hard enough to become really great, would likely PAY for a chance win the championship and thus be in the record book (?).
Excellent, quite insightful comment, DD.

No kidding.

Several years back in Chicago I won a qualifier for the 14.1 event. But the dates ended up coinciding with a week that I had promised my sister that I would fly out to CA to take care of my mom. It was tough to see the group photo with all those champions and the guy from Chicago who finished second.

I noticed the "expected" too on the list of players. I wonder how many of those players on the "expected" list are going to show up.

I like the clarification of "expected" honestly. Obviously the TD has been around long enough to know how how flakey/reliable pool players can be about showing up...lol

BTW, if you scroll to the bottom of their page there is a link to the 2019 finals match between Chinahov and. Pagulayan.

I've started watching it and it is pretty impressive.

Since the beginning of 2021, Peter Burrows has been working almost non-stop, trying to produce the only remaining world class 14.1 event. Despite obstacles that would have discouraged most other promoters, Peter has forged ahead and is determined to make the American 14.1 Championship a success in 2021.
Peter takes no money for himself….every penny raised goes into the players’ prize fund.
Anybody who loves Straight Pool should get on board and support the American 14.1.

you're in for a treat. ruslan played that tournament completely in the zone.

goes to show that good straight pool can be played even on tight tables.

Yeah, it's pretty good.

Shoot... I think I will go look at plane, car, and hotel arrangements.
