So this is the us open and they are all about Judd Trump . He played twice today on the TV table instead of our USA #1 Player Shane ! I’m not understanding, things sure have changed !!!!!

Uh....they own us now and there are many many more snooker fans than pool fans

Earl just lost, playing that many games in one day just took its toll. That’s what happens when you end up on the losers Side early on in a tournament. Sorry to see it,
He was just running out from everywhere his previous match - no way somebody declines that much because of 1 more match

We can keep having no tour and no fans or we can trust Matchroom to make the changes necessary to build a tour and fan base. They announced a UK open today that I'm sure will have many more snooker players jumping in - I'm sure they won't suck as bad as 90% of the Americans that entered this event.

Things need to change, but some people would rather keep our(pool) players broke with no tour 🤔

Totally agreed, but you know someone could run a free tournament with a $1 million first prize and huge payouts to like 50th place and someone here would find something wrong with it.

Three days of road kill. Real exciting pool. :ROFLMAO:(n)😷

It’s a seeded open tournament. Of course it starts out with roadkill. Were you expecting anything different? It’s like the first 15 minutes of watching Ninja Warrior and they focus on all the novelty acts that fail on the first obstacle. The best pool is coming.

Of course they are focusing on Judd Trump. From Matchroom's perspective their hope is that they can create crossover fans between pool and snooker and build both fans bases, possibly substantially, without even having to recruit fans from outside the cue sports fan base. Ton's of snooker fans are going to follow and cheer on Judd as he plays this event, and the hope is that some of them may end up getting hooked on pool and become new pool fans. Quite a few pool fans are also likely to start watching Judd Trump snooker matches to see how good he really is and what all the hype is about, and the hope is that some of them end up getting a bit hooked on snooker and start following it more.

And I'm sure it's going to help with both, the only question is how much, but understandably they are milking it to get the best out of it they can, especially considering this was a rare opportunity. Who knows how long it would be before the best snooker player in the world decides to play another major pool event.

Quite right, and I am that Snooker fan watching and cheering on Judd, I wouldn’t say I was hooked on pool but it must be doing something otherwise why am I spending time on this forum?

I don‘t for one moment expect Judd to win, it’s just about how deep he can go, and although the nature of the game seems to allow one player to sprint away, I doubt he will get to the knockout stages. But regardless of if Judd stays in, I will probably watch the final to see who eventually wins out.

Matchroom turned darts into a multi-million pound sport, and snooker was a steep decline until Barry Hearn came in and turned it around. My impression of pool seems to be a sport with a lot of potential hampered by poor management (very much as snooker was before Barry saved it) Matchroom know what there doing, if they are taking a serious interest in pool then that can only be good for the game.
