Well, if you are looking for a hand made custom wood cue case- the very best ever made IMO, were done many years ago by a guy named R A Caudle in Conyers GA. - He made custom box cases for take down shotguns and then got into making custom wood cases for pool cues.
In the beginning his cue case work was a little rough, but he had great talent in custom wood box making and within a few years his custom cue case work was just superb. I had owned three, and have one today that was done towards the end of his wood cue box case career- the finest woods were used in this case- BLACK Walnut! tiger Maple, Italian Walnut and Canary Wood - this is a 2X2 case and represents the very best of his work making custom wood box style cue cases!

Ron's cases were constructed with Dovetail joints - the finest traditional wood box construction technique. His family history of wood box making went back to the early 1900s. Hand rubbed with six coats of oil and 2 top coats of hard wax. The case looks as new as the day I received it 15 years ago. I believe that Ron has not made cue box cases for at least the last dozen years or so.
Not something you would want to take to most pool halls, THATS for sure!
HA HA- the case has never left my home! Stored in a safe. I think that this is one of his finest creations. The workmanship is as good as the very best custom cues - Ron was the Joel Hercek/Gus Szamboti of custom wood cue cases when he was at his best!
I have one identical to the pictures of the McDermott one, except for the color. Was made for me as a gift for a one off Schon I got made in 1982 or 83. I lived in Racine at the time, about 30 miles from Mcdermott, and a girl I was going out with worked at a luggage manufacture, that by the looks of them, must have made them for McDermott. Still have the case in excellent condition, sadly sold the cue to a collector a couple years back, and deeply regret that.
