LA Billiard Expo early-2000s

I came across this great 8 ball match between Archer and Bustamante. I put a link to it in the Tony Annigoni thread as he is one of the commentators (I thought he did a good job), but as one poster pointed out- perhaps we should start a different thread if we are going to talk about other topics.

Was the LA Billiard Expo just a one off event?

Jay Helfert- you are in the video periodically in the background. Did you promote the event?

Seemed like a great event- any chance to resurrect such an event in the area?

 
IIRC JH held that Expo right after 9/11. I remember him selling t-shirts from it on here yrs back.
 
Jay was the promoter for that Expo. It was at the Hilton next to the Burbank airport. The 8-ball invitational was Accu-Stats' way of developing some videos of that game since there were no pro 8-ball events to record. It was in October of 2001. There was also a large league event there.

I don't think Jay did any Expos after that.

Do you know who won the pro 8 ball tournament that year?
