Hi
I'm curious if anyone has an idea where this taper falls. It certainly isn't a pro, not sure if it would be considered more of a carom taper. I measured it every 3 inches.
Thanks for any input.
ferrule - 12.8
3" - 12.95
6" 13.3
9" - 13.6
12" - 14
15" - 14.75
18" - 15.54
21" - 17

When and how a taper goes from same length to the width at the joint varies from maker to maker. If it's not the same length as the tip for about 12" it's just a conical taper, european taper, etc...

This shaft would be a conical taper, which goes by several names, including "carom" "stiff" etc...

Could be what Schuler called an 'American' taper. A little stouter than a Pro. Pro usually grows about 1mm over 12". Carom tapers grow quick in a conical fashion.

Definitely not pure conical or we'd see closer to a straight line.

Yep. OP's shaft grew 1.2mm over the first 12" so its gonna be a little stouter than a standard pro taper. I had a Gilbert shaft that was much like this. Stiff but not too bad.
