CTE Testimonial
Ms. Amsterdam, I am not a Certified Instructor for CTE....I am only a student. Here's what I suggest for you and all your friends who may have interest in CTE Aiming.
One thing to do is to become a member here at AZBilliards...it is a great site for people who like to shoot pool. Everyone on here is not a professional...but it's fun reading their stories about the game.
First of all, I don't know your skill level.
Second, I'd suggest for you not to get too deep into the material until you've seen some VISUAL instruction from the author, Stan Shuffett himself.
You must "make haste slowly"....if that makes any sense at all.
Go on the YouTube site and enter the words Stan Shuffett and you will find a bunch of videos called a "Truth Series" that corresponds with the printed material in that book. Find the videos that start you out with Basic CTE with the manual pivot and begin there. (I'll bet your husband has already watched a lot of them...he's said on here he likes them) And if he's at an "A" level as a player, he'll know how to correct any 'wonky' stroke errors you may have. STROKE is very very important..no aiming system is going to help much if your stroke is out of whack.
I'm just guessing, but I'm thinking you should avoid Pro One and Disguised Pivoting until you have the Basic Process with the manual pivot well under control. DEFINITELY avoid Disguised Pivoting...it will only frustrate you because it won't work until you have the basics in full grasp
This is going to take some WORK at the pool table and it will be a lot easier if you have a table at your home. Even one of those Valley bar tables is good to learn the concept on. I know their pockets are like washtubs but you need a lot of work in THEORY first. By a "lot of work" I mean at least 30-40 hours....stretched out over a few weeks. Your husband already knows that.
This is about the best I can do without seeing you play.
Start watching this AZBilliards site a lot... Especially the "Ask The Instructor" forum. There are some sharp ladies and gents on there who are Professional Instructors and make a lot of emphasis on developing a stroke.
You won't get much attention on CTE Aiming because most don't utilize it in their curriculums. That doesn't mean they cannot teach you good information about pool shooting, because they really can...and you should read what they have to say.
Try to avoid the forums with the arguing. You've probably already seen plenty of that at your pool room ...it only wastes your time. (I know of what I speak, I used to be one of those myself but I quit. I'm an old man, but I think I "grew up" late.
Good wishes to you and keep in touch.
Kindest Regards,
