Oliver Ortmann vs Bill Staton from the 1989 US Open 14.1 Championship

I was there in 1989 to witness, Ortmann was like a Hurricane in Chicago that week - a force that devastated all the best there. I remember DiLiberto saying that he could not figure out Ortmann's 14.1 game - it was more wide open than U.S. traditional 14.1 that most of the other guys there were still playing back then.

Ortmann is one of my favorite 14.1 players. I know he has had some back problems. I wonder if that's why we don't see him as much as we used to. I'd like to see him participate in Bobby Chamberlain's 14.1 challenge..

Yes- Oliver has problems with his back- but not to forget, that Oli has his own well running buisness since a long time. So playing pool is not his first "task"- ofc i m sure he is still a player deep inside- but hey :-) it speaks for him to set the priorities as it is positive for him.

@mikemosconi: Exactly- Oliver kind of revolutionized 14.1 playing style. His far more offensive style was (and is) a pleasure to watch. In my personal opinion he had tremendous influence so 14.1 changed a lot.

I wasn't aware he ran a business. That explains it.
