Anyone else use Nylon as a shaft insert? (Huebler Obviously)

Here's an Example of what I'm talking about. (Piloted Nylon Insert)

I don't use them, but I imagine it can't be more difficult than machining them from round stock like regular brass inserts, so they work with a 7/16-14 or 7/16-20 tap

I sure liked them on my Hueblers back in the 70s...

And I still love them on all of my Huebler's ;)

I've made one replacement shaft for one of my Huebler's and I stuck with a nylon insert.

Not sure what the OP was looking for in his post?

They melt easily and are relatively weak and cross thread easily.
Kevlar and phenolic are much better option.

I've owned the same Huebler since the mid 90's, haven't cross threaded it yet (crosses fingers :)).

What did you glue the nylon insert with?

I used Gorilla gel CA. I know plastics are fun to glue but wasn't too worried about it as it was my first shaft build and the shaft was already warped (cut down bar cue) and I didn't intend on using that shaft. I've played with it about a dozen times now with no issues.

I'd be interested to know what others use as I do plan on making more Huebler shafts for my other cues.

If you thread them, heck you can use gorilla glue even.

Are you saying thread the external diameter of the insert?

I actually messed with that but I don't live tool (yet) so used a regular die. Worked ok but I then I decided I didn't want to take a chance of messing up the shaft and just went with a simple round insert.

I would be interested to know how Huebler et. al installed them? Were they threaded?

Internal, when you install it.
