Is SVB winning less tourneys since switching to cf?

Any lack of results by SVB recently has FAAAAAAAR more to do with drive/focus/goals than any piece of equipment. Two best players on the planet,IMO, are JLChang and Fedor Gorst. Both use CF. Both would be just as good with wood.

To be honest it really
I’m sure he was only playing with the R360 because it was the best they had, in my opinion cuetec was absolute garbage until the Cynergy line.
wasn't that horrible. Kid at the local room had one and i tried it for about an hour. Tip was too soft but it played ok.

Made me worse. I gave the revo a year, went back to the vantage. Night and day. Playing 38 years, Fargorate well into the 600s.
Lotsa people can't play with them lol
That's great. You went back to what you were USED TO. 'Can't play with them' is a very subjective description. How? Can't make balls? Less Speed control? Feel? Not very objective/science-based. Its a SHAFT. It can't make one play better/worse. 99.99999999% of this is in one's head. And that's important but don't blame/bless a material for good/bad play. Look at Gorst. HOTTEST player on the planet. He'd be just as good regardless of shaft type. He got a nice deal with Cuetec so he switched. Same with Chang. Looks like its really hurt their game.

ya and at end of the day its all about getting the cash with the sponsor, who realy knows what there personal choice is and not let everyone know they realy prefer wood over carbon.

No offense but WHO cares? Shaft choice is very subjective. What someone else uses should have ZERO effect on what one uses/buys. Just like the NEVER ending saga: WHAT's the best tip???? the best beer? best bourbon? yada-yada-yada.

I tried the Revo, didn't like it at all. Felt so much worse than my custom LD wood shaft. On the other hand, I've also tried the GO-2 cf shaft from Goran Kobas (GO customs) and it felt amazing. Waaaaaaaaay better than the Revo. My point is, there's already a pretty broad line of cf shafts and they all play different. Why wouldn't they? Wood shafts don't play the same either.

Exactly. Some people swear by Southwest cues/shafts. I've hit ONE that i liked, a J. Franklin with real micarta ferrules. Every other SW i've tried has been a ultra-stiff lifeless log to me. Each his own.

It seems to me that Shane was dominating everything with his cuetec R360 shaft, and shot straight as hell. But, in the past few years since switching to the cf Cynergy shaft, he doesn't seem to place as high in events and seems to miss more often. Anyone else noticing this?
I'm pretty sure Cuetec "forced" him to use and endorse the Cynergy shaft (and for the steady contract money I don't blame him), but I wonder how he'd be doing now if he still used the R360? Thoughts?
Seems like you are stirring the pot because you are pro wood. That's fine but your comments regarding SVB are baseless and incorrect. I'm good friends with one of the guys who had a hand in the R&D of the Cynergy shaft and was around SVB quite a bit through its development. He was like a kid in a candy store when he got his first prototype and was very instrumental in its development. The white ferrule? SVB. He told Cuetec he wouldn't play with an all black shaft (prototypes were all black like the Revo) as he uses the white ferrule to aim. There were other things they tweaked to accommodate SVB's likes/dislikes. He was VERY involved in the R&D process. No one held a gun to his head forcing him to use it. He told me early on it was the best shaft he'd ever played with. Good enough for me. FWIW, I still use a solid maple shaft but have hit with the Cynergy 12.5mm a bit. As far as carbon fiber goes, the Cynergy is about as close to wood as you are going to get with great feed back and some cue ball squirt although not as much as a solid maple shaft. IMO, his recent tournament results have more to do with more fishing and less pool than anything else. Good for him, he's earned the right and has the luxury to do what he wants. He really wants US Open #6 so I expect he will ramp up the practice time soon.

Perhaps I'm ignorant, but isn't Shane more valuable to Cuetec than Cuetec is to him? If he really wanted to play with a R360 they wouldn't stop him. I'm sure they gave him a bonus to persuade him though to use the Cynergy. But consider that Shane could easily walk away from Cuetec and have another sponsor in a matter of hours.
Unless there is a contract....which I'm sure there is. You are sure of it too.

Two weeks ago I went to league and had to borrow a stick. Wasnt supposed to play that night, but someone couldn't make it.

I played an entire match with a Cynergy. Had a crisp sound. Firm hit. I liked it. But it was different. My speed control was off for some reason.

I think I could get used to it if I practiced with it for a few weeks. But I really dont think it will improve my game any.

Couldn't agree more.

SVB is a fisherman who happens to play pool, and a smart man. He knew that the Cynergy contract was the way to go for his financial future. He "adjusted" to the cf shaft for his future, even if it cost him a ball or two per event. Again, I don't blame him. But my original question is: "Is he really a better player with cf?"

You are not asking a question.

😂 You want to argue your opinion. You already have your answer awaiting any and all participants.

So just change ? To one of these! And good to go...
