Cloth durability : opinions?

Agreed. The difference is negligible at best. I play with a variety of sets: Centennials, Dynaspheres, Cyclop, Aramith Tournaments, Cosmos, etc. I think the key factor is the cloth. HR is supposed to be more resistant to wear.
And the HR is slightly faster than regular 860, right? Given I play a mix of games, but spend a lot of time playing straight pool, if I were to get some Simonis over, HR might be the best bet of the three main Simonis cloths.

7 1/2 years of 860 and Duramiths. I don't like to rack balls, so I don't. :ROFLMAO:

Or....maybe I just need to play more.

Most top balls have a RH of around 72ish. SAP's and Tournaments are 80+ so both will burn less but i agree the cloth is just as big a factor in burns.

Oh, come on now. Seriously??

😡🤯
Seriously. I'm sure if I started breaking more, it would have the same wear patterns as every other table. But I just roll the balls out on the table and start banking (probably 90% of the time). And I'm "playing" by myself about 99% of the time. The Duramiths are great, and don't pick up any scuff marks. At least mine haven't. I do polish them up once in a while, but I'm certainly not anal about it.

What kind of balls are you using? If 9B is not your primary game, I'd say the wear is quite extreme. I've had Simonis 860HR on my table for two years with 9B and 10B being the primary games played. My wear is nowhere near as severe.

I standard Simonis green on my GC, I use Centennials, Tournaments, and Cyclops. My cloth was far more worn than this after 6 months. I will be putting blue Simonis on soon, probably HR.

Correct.

Yes. Its between 860 and 760. Great cloth. The ANDY988 is about the same speed. Another really nice rug.

Thanks all! it’s actually quite interesting seeing the different wear on everyone’s cloth.

My 860 had track lines for 9 ball and 10 ball breaks within 6 months. At almost 2 years since install date, it still plays great but looks beat up.

But I'm going to get it redone this year at some point.

Worsted cloth often looks worse than it actually is. Unless its got actual holes in it 860 in a home set-up will last 5+yrs easy.

I like it when my cloth gets beat to shit, get a new one and start the process all over. That’s what it’s all about it’s a pool table, not a concourse car……

It’s pretty hard to replicate the joy of playing on new cloth; those delicate draw or stuns over distance that just aren’t possible on older cloth. And there’s the golden time when for a few weeks it’s not overly slick anymore but still responsive.

Speaking of cars this guy did it right, made a badass Ferrari tribute car for the sole purpose of DRIVING THE SHIT out of it.

This is true. My table is playing fine. It just occurred to me that it looked pretty awful for 7 months and wondered how other cloths wore over time.

I agree, when I had my tables set up in vegas would swap the cloth a couple times a year on one of them, the other I let wear down some. New cloth is fun for sure. Which is why I don’t care how long it lasts, unless it’s really wore out then that’s cool too. The in between time is the least fun
