What was the promoter's name that put these on and is he/they still involved in pool? Thanks.
 
I believe his name was Badi Nazhat and, to my knowledge, he is no longer involved in producing pool events.

Don't remind me, it's just too painful. In a thread I posted in April 2019 about Matchroom's inaugural edition of the US Open 9-ball, called "SJM is Beggin You - Support Matchroom", I wrote:

The Players Can and Will Make a Difference
The players need to support Matchroom in every possible way. When it comes to this kind of support for event producers, the players only offer their support and cooperation some of the time.

Who can forget the way that the pros, wrapping themselves in the flag of their player union, opted not to support a high prize fund event that, I believe, was called the Ultimate 10-ball, dooming it to failure and eventual extinction? ..... No doubt, the players feel that they always support the event producers who roll the dice on pool, but this simply isn't true. They, similarly, don’t think their actions do any harm, but they are, once again, mistaken.

The loss of the Ultimate 10-ball was a truly sad event in American pool history. It was an event that had a first prize of over $20,000 but the players, though their failure to support the event, doomed it to failure.

He still lives in the DFW area. I wonder if he even follows what's going on lately? Looks like he's in the phone business.
