CNC's for cuemakers

I got the Acorn board about a month ago, and their mill pro software. After struggeling with Mach 3 since I got the machine. i must say that Acorn is much more userfriendly and not to mention, it's compatible with tofays software. No more searching for a old win 7 pc.

Kim,
What motors did you end up getting?
Centroid has to be the most user friendly put together system. I ditched partially Mach, still use it on two other machines.

I have ordered Clearpath. Meanwhile I just hooked up the ones on the CNC. It was actually pretty straight forward. That's another thing with Acorn. There is support available, lots easy to understand videos and the forum. With Mach 3 everything was just a mess, no clear advice to follow.

I went with SDSK models. I emailed Teknik before I ordered and got some recommendations. The SDHP models are a lot stronger, but at twice the price.
The NEMA23 SDSK's was about $300/each + all the other stuff I needed, so it wasn't cheap. Hopefully they should be here around easter.

Yeah we talked about it, that’s what I have (482ozs O think?) but make sure you get the enhanced version. It’s like $30/$40 per motor but well worth the upgrade, they have a higher resolution.

Joey is not understanding… the clearpath motors have controllers built in, they connect directly to the Acorn Centroid controller board.

That's the ones I got, they where about $50 more than the basic ones.

That means you have a huge box of electronics and wires that are going to be removed soon.
The only thing getting saved is the vfd?
