Trying to get some info on this stick. 54 1/2”, 18 ounce. No insert, wooden threads cut. Canvas case more like a gun case

That's a older cue, probably 40s based upon the black fiber joint. Might even be a little older, but not pre 1930s. Could be a custom order Brunswick, though others could have made it. Europeans made cues like this prior to American cuemakers. Many immigrated from European Brinswick factories to work with Brunswick here.
Case is from the same time period.

Being shorter, it likely is a billiards cue. Especially if it has a thicker straight taper with a wide tip.

That's a very classic design with standard points set into butterfly points. Here's one from early 1910-1920, made by European cuemakers who came from Europe. Why I ever sold it...
Had a custom one of a kind case too.

Wow. Very similar. Guessed it had some age, but did not think it could be that old. The tip does look odd. I can’t seem to get another photo to post. I guess I’m interested in selling it

Check your messages, just text me.

Yours might be more like 1950 era.
The black joint and highly colored veneers.
Send a pic of the bumper end...and close up of the tip/ferrule.

Picture size probably too big...just reduce that.

That’s pretty cool. Too bad it’s short.

Add an extension?
It’s possible. But I’m not a fan of drilling and tapping a hole in a cue that old with the original case.

It’s a nice kit the way it is. It’s unlikely to be a player cue where a extension is necessary. Looks more collectible to me.

The taper might be funny as well for pool if it’s a old billiard cue. Then retapering it is another story.

I’d leave it as is.

My 2¢

Pretty cool in any case

I’d convert it. But yeah nothing wrong with preserving it.

The joint will be too skinny to convert, plus each half just over 27 inches. So a conversion will have a short butt.

He sent me pics and under the ferrule is badly damaged. If anything you could be a shaft made at 30 inches to get you to 57.

Cues like this are best left as is...sin to cut them.

Never saw one with veneers like this has in the butt. Like a miniwedge. I'm thinking it's European origin. Nobody else did that here.

Conversions I made in the past from a 1930s double butterfly cue and a Katz titelist type cue. Alot of fun to do.The only cues I kept beside my player.
