WORLD POOL (nineball) CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 April2022), UK, Winner $60K

Albin wins 11 - 3. This may help SVB if he beats Kazakis. SVB's potential win will probably be more of a challenge and keep him sharp. Go Shane!

AlYoussef who is outside top 100 FR is probably longest shot in semis of a major World event in past few years. iIRC , The long shot semifinalist before was Masato Yoshika in 2019 World 10 Ball. He will make history if he upsets Albin as theongest shot finalist
Agreed. Another very live long-shot was Li Hewen, who came within a rack of winning it all against Darren Appleton in 2012. Li Hewen had medaled in 2006, as well, but his pool career was generally unremarkable.

Pulling for SVB pretty hard, not just bc I love his style and how he plays the game but bc I really don't want Albin to win. Bad enough he and Thorsten Hohman have 2 world titles each (Thorsten just put in the worst showing of his career I think the way he was slapping wildly at balls to go out btw). But really, I would hate to see Albin in the stratosphere of greats with 3 world titles. I mean he is better than Thorsten, but there are dozens of better players that don't have one, SVB included (for now). Kill me for this opinion if you want but I don't think I'm far off. Surely nobody would argue Thorsten doesn't look the part of a multiple world champion even moreso than Albin. In the same way, Albin is just not anywhere near the level of the all time great Hall of Famers he would end up being mentioned in sentences with all the time if he got a third world title. In my opinion he is closer to Thorsten than Shane. Shane is an all-timer. Tomorrow will be like watching Marino try to win a super bowl.
I completly disagree with you on this one... Albin O. is at the moment and for a few years ago the best 9 ball player by far... you may not like is style but that is personal opinion, because he plays and win important tournaments and that is it for is quality and merit.

Albin is the best big TOURNAMENT 9-Ball player on the planet. But Albin would never play SVB (or many top pros) 9-Ball for big money stakes, because he wouldn't win, and he knows it. The structure/pace of big tournaments is where Albin thrives. Albin is a specialist: Big tourney 9-Ball.

There is no free stream today. I subscribed to Matchroom Live for $1 ...... just for today. Watching right now.

Where you watching it from? Last time I attempted to subscribe it saw I was in US and geo locked me out as DAZN had the "rights". Didn't feel like screwing with the openvpn server so said the heck with it.

Why wouldn’t he win?

Not arguing to the contrary. Just legitimately curious. Where’s the deficiency in his game that makes him weaker gambling compared to people he beats in tournaments?

idk. mosconi cup in london sells out, and there's no englishman on the euro team. there's a scotsman, but i suspect even without him it would sell out. fans from other countries are probably more likely to wanna go to london than to milton keynes.

i hope they get bigger crowds going forward, it adds a lot more pressure
Totally different animal -Europe vs the USA. The UK may not be in the European Union but they are part of Europe and razzing is permitted and who doesn't like to razz the USA.

I don't have DAZN. Don't know if that makes a difference. I subscribed here in the U.S.

it was tough getting to the finish line, but Shane pulls it out 11-7.
SVB will be working on the break now for sure. Just one or two more dry breaks than Albin and he'll be in rough waters.

PS- I like JJ as a rotation Commentator.
