interesting experience with taom chalk

miscued at some point, and as a result noticed a big chunk of taom chalk glued to the cb
the stuff was stuck..in hindsight, I prob should've washed it, but I tried to just scrape it off
I didn't have success, so I tried rubbing it off- this worked, but I had to hit it a few times
the cb actually got hot, and discolored (yellow), but I was able to remove the chalk
I stopped playing about a half an hour later, and the cb was still slightly discolored
is that common? would that have happened without the taom on it? never had chalk stick like that

What kind of cue ball and which blend of Taom chalk? Any miscue will impart a scratch on the cue ball that takes some effort to remove.

The miscue marks on some cue balls are harder to remove than others, and it also depends on the severity of the miscue.
 
I bought a piece a few months ago and my biggest fear was mucking up my pre shot routine but I chalk before each game and maybe if I’m going to really dig into a shot, and got used to that really fast. I’ve miscued a few times with no problem like you had. I’m not sure how you could have a thick piece like that on your tip even. It seems like such a fine film that goes on your tip. I was a Master guy for over 40 years but after seeing how clean my hands, balls and table stay, I think this stuff is the real deal. Mine is the light green by the way. Best pool innovation in a long time IMO.
 
I use TAOM Pyro blue. I like it because it stays on so well, BUT I DO find tiny pieces of the chalk on the table occasionally. NEVER a dust spot like with Masters or Silver Cup, but like a tiny speck. I DEFINATELY see a tiny bit of the chalk stuck to the Cue Ball occasionally as well. This is most commonly right after a break with my break cue.

I chalk correctly, never over chalk, maybe every 4 or 5 shots as needed.

This has never resulted in any negative impact on my game. Just an observation.

I've seen the same thing, especially as I get near the bottom of the cylinder.

I had the same experience with Pyro. I've not noticed any chalk pieces/specs with the V10.
 
I can only say good about V-10, Draw & English results better.

Seems to last long, 6 weeks plus of using, look line unused.

Yes. Taom kinda "burns" on cueball when miscue. That is when it get really tight to cueball. I always clean cueball after miscue happen with Taom. Yellow color wear off or if you throw ball to polisher it will take care of that too. This is only downside of Taom imo.
I am happily taking this minor downside with chalk. It is nothing compared to good things Taom V10 will bring.

I clean it fast in game when this happens by scrubbing chalk away with finger nail. Then polishing ball miscue by rubbing it against rail cloth gently.
 
If you're used to chalking every shot and do that carelessly, like a few quick swipes in only the center of your tip it can build up on the edges. I've never had that experience with a miscue but have left bits on the cloth with a masse shot. Overall love the V-10

Unless it’s your ball in hand, you wouldn’t be able to do that in the middle of a game.

I have had the same experience. I bought a cube of the V10 4 months ago. The chalk appears hardly used, I have only had to clean the balls once, and I don't need to clean the table at all. I can rub my hand all over the table and there is no chalk residue. Miscues so far have left no marks at all on the CB. It is very expensive, but worth every penny. I wash my hands after an hour of play, and there is just a light gray tint to the water, extremely clean chalk.

hey chris, cb is aramith blue and taom is v10 green
this miscue mark was significantly thicker/more "built up" than any other miscue mark I've seen with other (mostly masters) chalk
as poolmanis mentions belows, the chalk was "burned" on the cb, I'm guessing due to friction combined with the taom formula
taom chalk is so fine and grippy, which is why it stays on the tip and why I like it, but I think that's why it burned on the cb like that
maybe small price to pay- been using taom for a few months with no issues, but this mark was a new one, and not easy to deal with

I’m guessing it was a nasty miscue, like on a break shot or a power draw shot? We use either a red circle or a new pro cup Measle cue ball, and any miscue marks I’ve had using my Taom V10 have been easy to remove.
