That table is nearly white from all the powder. The young guy is touching the powder pile on both sides of the table then wiping his hand on the playing surface.

Powder on the table wouldn't keep it dry. The powder would eventually turn to a paste.

Living in the tropics I find a glove to be the best solution for me and my table.
It's universal in the Philippines. In case the player accidentally touches a ball when shooting he will replace it to where the spot is. I suspect the real reason for it is so the guy can get paid at the end of the match.
In that humidity powder is essential. I use it and I'm in a climate controlled basement. Just doesn't feel right if I don't have it after decades of using it.

Yes. Not the same feel.
It’s a third world country . Powder is cheap and free and the humidity is out of control. I hate powder and I’m glad that pool halls and bars took that out but this situation I would be happy to see it lol
Apologies for bumping my own thread but parts 3 through 6 are now up and if you want to see Efren in stoke this is probably as good as you will see these days. It's unfortunate he had visa problems because if he played like this in that tournament he would have made some noise.
Check out the end of that video. See all the young people around the table? If people wonder why there are so many great Filipino pool players that video tells it all. In America those kids would be at home playing a video game.
