Anybody want to play Alex….

It does seem hard to believe but I've seen a little bit of it and it can and does happen. It's like how does Earl make those behind the back rolling wing shots with such regularity? I don't know but he does...

Didn't we have an azb member Jesse Allred who did some amazing vids of himself playing one handed and behind the back? Pretty sure I got the name right, maybe not the spelling. He was really impressive and I think he got a Kamui sponsorship.

Wonder whatever happened with him...

EDIT: I found him:

Wow.

Jacked up-unlikely

Using the rails 1 handed it’s amazing what can be done. Used to be lots of 1 hand action back in the 80’s. Big $ action. It was never cheap action-as a side note. I was on the rail and saw it for years in person. Bet lots on it as well-when rail bets were a thing.

I'm better at long, straight-ins shooting one handed on the rail. Can't understand it... maddening.

The 2 best one handed players I've ever seen .... and I mean one handed playing jacked up was .... George breedlove ...... but even better than him was Weldon rogers he was the most awesome one handed road player I've seen wow he could play !!!!!!!
Bunny Rogoff was no slouch.

It most likely is because there’s less tension on your body and your hitting the rock straighter and more pure.

Great thread!

I have a cool friendship with Alex. I’ll bet on him or with him or against him depending on the action. Our gambol has never effected our friendship either way. Or is it affected? Lol

We both love action and it’s never been a issue. He manages his action, I manage mine and we walk away friends no matter what. As it should be. I really like and respect him for that. I’d guess Cornbread was like that as well. Action is action, friends are friends. Biz is biz.

The kid and I have been friends since he/she was 17 and coming to Detroit from ugh, ugh, Canada.

I’ll always like him/her no matter what he/she decides to make of himself/herself.

Poor sucker, he’s lucky that all he got was that road rash. Kinda nasty. I don’t think I would let him near my backgammon board just yet.

The backgammon already is bloody from me beating my head on it……🩸🩸

Actually played Ronnie at CJs in Dallas Tx 1992 . He played One handed I gave him 10-7 on 10ft Gold Crown. I wasn’t supposed to win but I grinded him out 22hrs later !!!!!
Good for you …many of us admire your competiveness…you got heart.
The bad news is that the Ronnie you saw in ‘92 was way past his prime….he lived hard and didn’t age well.
The Ronnie I’m talking about was 60s and 70s….he was the Reyes of his era….multi-talented.

I have a theory about that…when you cue those one-handed, you head is farther from the cue ball…..your perspective is better.
So many people crowd the cue ball….harder to see the shot.

long one handed shots off the rail are like sighting a rifle. you easily get way down on it and have a long sighting plane.
they are easy as long as your one handed stroke is straight.

but pool is easy if your stroke is straight,

if it isnt you need an aiming system and a new carbon shaft.

I feel the same way about using the mechanical bridge. It lets you get down and back farther from the cue ball just like lining some rifle sights up on a pesky squirrel. I still in my convoluted mind cannot figure out why its use is looked upon with utter disdain by many.

Yeah it was a blast playing him , we had more fun than anyone should while playing!!! He was awesome , I learned a ton from him the week he was in town . I donated his $$$ back to him that week as well!

Inform an idiot, why are you using him/her/he/ she?
Is Alex changing his gender?
Is this a p.c. way to talk about anyone?
p.c. way of talking about those you don't know?
What's happening here?

Lol.

It’s a joke with Alex.

Years ago he put a dress on and played at a tournament…we wanted him to get on the WPBA tour.

I’ll joke about it now and then with him/her.
