[Island Drive]

He realized one day
life's tough being a kid.
With Dads high expectations
His minds in a Bib.
One day he got grounded
He stayed home for months.
Bad grades were his proof
And punishment his munch.
He hated the books
& loved everything else.
In the basement
was a pool table, not much else.
It's time had arrived.
No more books or reading
That's not how I survive
with this type of bleeding.
Came home one day
the table was gone.
I was befuddled pissed off
but had to move on.
I picked up the phone book
and looked for a poolhall.
One just down the street
by the bowling alley and all.
When I first walked in
many kids from school.
All playing & laughing
& all playing pool.
From Gordon Hart to
superjoint to
Ostrich wrap and all.
I was in for a ride
that's NOT for you ALL.

A lot could be added to that to make a movie, thats what I was thinking, everyone has a story...

Start out with a pool 9 ball game ending a tournament what just won, having a beer and thinking back of dad saying someday life will be different. Pool can make you a life as a pro pool player. Your good you have the talent and all the ability for what it takes. Thinking back to that time, maybe in the fifties a black family in the Midwest small town, Pop has a pool hall in the flats, Hard life, good teaching, Start out maybe 3rd grade boy or girl, don't use a lot of bad, if any gambling under the table with lots of respect for the owner, Pop, Mom and Pop are good Christian people. And leave it at that ,, then take life through what it takes to live, with pool games along the way. All the while this could be talked out by like a Morgan Freeman... This USA doesn't have to be all Bad put lots of Good in this movie... Let this black person grow up to see more good than bad...
