FYI, I just posted a new video where I demonstrate ways to use your cue to quickly visualize a shot’s aim and expected CB direction. Techniques covered include using an “air cue” to help visualize the line and angle to the pocket, the required line of aim, a virtual rail, and the tangent line. Check it out:

Contents:
0:00 - Intro
0:23 - “Air Cue” Aim
0:59 - “Air Cue” Virtual Rail
1:41 - “Air Cue” Tangent Line
2:32 - Air Peace Sign
3:31 - Wrap Up

As always, I look forward to your feedback, comments, questions, complaints, and requests.

Enjoy!

That first shot, I call <reciprocal tangents>. Some people call _marking_ ... BFD. I got that from Jimmy Reid's "equal opposites" method. It's the nuts. I use the "virtual rail" too - on either side of the ball; angle dependent.

Stick aiming is also super effective right over the shot line. Instead of guessing while in shoot position, you stroke right over the cue ball, right at the socket on the object ball. This will show you in one stroke, how well you are going to hit the shot. Cool thing is three or four strokes in this manner is ample "practice" and calibration.

Can you briefly describe Jimmy's "equal opposites" system? Even better, do you have a video link? Is it the same as the double-the-distance system or the midpoint-parallel-shift system?

Jimmy Reid's "equal angle opposites" is in his video. A friend showed that to me in the 90s. I couldn't grasp the visualization at the time and that first shot you play is what I was able to distill from it. The mid point roll is essentially the same thing from a different intellectual direction. The reference points are the same. For instance, connecting the reciprocal tangents with your cue, gives you the mid point from which you can roll the stick over to center ball; identical results. Funny part about this is after the roll to center your stick points to the mythical base of the ghost ball at the object ball line. lol...
