Danny Thomas' Pool Table

Hi, I’m hoping you may be able to help with a problem I’m having.

I have a pool table that was owned by the late entertainer, Danny Thomas, that I believe he purchased in the 70’s.

The table is in pieces right now, but I’m looking to sell, and can’t seem to find out any information about who did the wood etchings, etc.

I’ve attached some photos below in case anything rings your bell. I see that the artist has the initials P.C., but that’s all I know.

If you can be of any help, I’d really appreciate any guidance. Thanks so much!

I know a guy in Beverly Hills who’s 83, he’s been on the antique biz for 50 years. I’ll send him the pics and see if he knows anything. He sells tables occasionally. He’s not a expert on tables-but he’s been around. Looks like a carved table from India or Asia to me.

I’ll see what the old guy says. He was born in BH and has met everyone in the entertainment industry 38 times

I’ll send them now

Thats sad, I sure wish that I could help, looks like you could find the mfg and seller, Danny ( RIP ) Still has family and might even want the table... Guy

He said 90% chance it’s carved in India. Doesn’t have much value unless there’s a LoA and even then it’s still not a high value table these days. However I bet he paid a ton for it new.

I think it looks ok, in the right area it’s cool decor. Wouldn’t be my choice to use it as a box to play on. Cool history. If it came out of his Beverly Hills house-wow what a house that was. I believe the house was smashed down and rebuilt. Was one of the best pieces of land in LA.

Jason, I don't know of your wealth, but if you could afford to donate the table to Sant Jude hospital and dedicate the table to Danny and all the children. God's babies, for their rec center.... The expense of that table will come back to you many times over.... Guy

If you can afford to donate, maybe start a 30 days auction with all of the proceeds going to St. Jude’s Hospital.
Coordinate the auction with the hospital fund raising committee and promote it via the local news. It might even
make national coverage. Heck, let the hospital offer you ideas and suggestions if you are able to donate the table.

not likely to have a great amount of value from his name. unless it was used for something highly connected to him.

just because a famous person owned something doesnt automatically make it very valuable.

I asked him if he knew more about it, he said that he didn’t know more than what I posted. He’s more into Victorian antiques, however he said 10000% moorish and India is where it was most likely carved. Loads of carved furniture for 100’s years is from India. Even knockoff Victorian pieces. They have the skills and materials and the cost is very low.

That’s all the info I can get on this from him. I’ll poke around a bit more, most likely when he built out that house he ordered a ton of everything to match-that’s normal when you have a unlimited budget. It was probably sourced from a designer as part of a whole house design and decor deal. It’s possibly a one off table or the carvings are over layed on a existing table. Have to look under the hood and figure that out. I’ve seen some very expensive Frankenstein tables like that in Beverly Hills for sale at AAA billiards-it’s not in biz anymore. Was on Robertson BL. Not a scam, just a place for rich people to add decor to their houses. They never use the tables.
