When you're working on rails that take the nbr 6 pocket irons, and the ends of the rails are busted out, do you fix them?

Glenn you the expert, you should be educating, and asking laymen this question.

Did I miss something, or are you trying to get amature answers?

I'm trying to figure out who the real table mechanics are, vs those who just talk like they are. I would think there are some real pool table mechanics that post here in this forum, but I guess I could be wrong.

According to some here, it seems like I'm just a run of the mill furniture installer, so I'm just curious as to who ELSE does work on THIS level??? I'm even showing how to do it in case anyone wants to learn!!

Why is your hole slotted when the original wasn't?

Why does your slotted hole look like it was carved with a dull pocketknife?

Because if you actually spent any time working on these type of pockets, you'd know how hard it can be to get the pocket ear bolt started, without cross-threading it. By slotting the bolt hole the way i did, it allows for starting the mounting bolt early, then pressing the pocket in tightly before tightening the mounting bolt. Diamond later copied my design and applied it to the tables they were building at the time. No one else has designed any pocket mounting holes like I did, they probably didn't have a sharp enough pocket knife!!!

Here is a fix that I did awhile back. In retrospect, I should have taken a larger section of wood out. No machinery used other than a drill for the smaller hole. I used a bit brace for the larger one.
