Who can make my shaft with a pro taper?

I love my main player but it doesn’t have a pro taper. I’ve been playing with my back up cue and that one has a pro taper and im so use to it I can’t switch back to my main player!!!

Does anyone know any cue makers that can bring my main player shaft down to a pro taper without royally screwing up the shaft and ferrule?

I will mail it out to who ever as long as I know they have a strong reputation for giving the best results im looking for.

Putting a taper on a shaft is probably child's play for most any cuemaker. If you cannot find anyone local to do it then as mentioned Proficient Billiards is my first choice and the turn around time is usually pretty fast.

It'll change how the CB reacts, in case that matters to you.

why not just buy a shaft with the pro taper for the favorite cue. I mean, you must have liked the shaft at some point or it wouldn't be your favorite, so why change that.

It’s a custom with beautiful ring work in the joint that I want to match the butt end.

It’s not about the cost. I don’t care about the cost as long as it’s done right. It’s all about keeping the ring work and having the shaft that I want.

If you mean the tip width, that's probably right - I assumed it would change, but it doesn't have to.

I'm not sure what the "flex point" is, but I think it changes the feel of the hit, not the outcome.

I've done it, quite a few times, and they all take as long as they take to do the job well, and I would only take on the job with the understanding I get paid for my time.

Changing the shaft taper will also change the hit and feel of the cue. If you "love" how your cue plays, then you must love the shaft build. If you change it, it will change the characteristics of the shaft. It's like saying "I love the woman I'm with but I really wish she was more like Selma Hayek".

Whoever does it, ask them how much sanding they'll end up doing. This can separate someone professional and with the proper equipment from someone just doing it for a hobby.
If they cut the shaft accurately, very little sanding will be required.
